The boys are back for a new heist! GKIDS took to the Twitterverse to reveal a quick sneak peek at the English dub of Lupin III: The First. Coming off a wildly successful release in Japanese theaters, Lupin III: The First is heading to the United States, with an all-star English cast dubbing the smash anime hit.

The news comes from the official GKIDS Twitter profile. The brief 30-second snippet of Lupin III: The First features a quick shot of explosive action and cunning thievery, along with an impressive animated presentation that captures the style and substance of the original manga. Following the initial tweet, GKIDS also tweeted the all-star English cast that will be dubbing Lupin III: The First, with many favorites from previous works returning to the lead cast. Leading off the cast is Tony Oliver, who has voiced Lupin in several Lupin television specials, including the fairly recent Lupin the 3rd: Goodbye Partner. Coming fresh of  Netflix's Doredore, Doug Erholtz returns as Zegita. Ghost in the Shell star Richard Epcar voices Zigen once more, and Michelle Ruff (Sword Art Online) returns as Fujiko. Finally, Lex Lang (Doom Patrol) returns as Goemon Ishikawa XIII. Lupin III: The First follows the gang on a new heist in the 1960's, pursuing a sacred treasure, known as The Bresson Diary.

Lupin the 3rd has its origins traced back to the 60's and 70's, with manga, anime, and film series spanning several decades. Lupin the 3rd has aired multiple parts of its anime series, including the recent Lupin the 3rd Part IV: The Italian Adventure, airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2017.  Lupin the III: The First marks the seventh Lupin the 3rd film, with the first one being released in 1979. Since its debut in 1967, Lupin the 3rd has enjoyed a solid presence within the international anime community.

Lupin III: The First is listed as "coming soon," encouraging interested filmgoers to visit its website to sign up for updates, though, a few showtimes have sprung up, showing October 18th to be the premiere date. It's unclear how Lupin III: The First will be distributed during these times.  More studios are premiering movies on VOD instead of theaters, especially as it becomes increasingly clear that the pandemic will continue into 2021.

Lupin III: The First is coming soon to North American theaters.
