It appears that Luis Guzman is among the actors who would like to return in the Community movie, though technically speaking, he wouldn't play a specific character.

Now that the wheels are turning on the Community movie, fans will be wondering who will be included in the upcoming film. Guzman recently admitted that in light of Community finally getting the movie the fans and cast have wanted, he would like to return for the movie as himself, much like he did ten years ago.

While talking with Vulture, Guzman confirmed that he would like to be involved in the upcoming Community film since he was Greendale's most esteemed alum. “Yes. I would love to be. I mean, I’m part of that Community legacy,” he told Vulture. “I would love to do it.” Guzman had been involved with the show since almost the very beginning, though he did not make an appearance until the season 3 episode, "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux." Early on in Season 1, the show made note of a statue of the actor due to him being the most famous student to have ever attended the community college.

Guzman would appear as himself in that Community episode because the fictionalized version of himself was interested in helping promote Greendale as a community college. He admitted how much he enjoyed himself while he was a student there, but unfortunately, it was his appearance that ultimately led to Dean Pelton losing his sanity while he was trying to make the "perfect" commercial for Greendale. Luckily, Abed, who had been capturing the Dean losing his mental stability inch by inch, managed to make a commercial satisfactory enough to appease the school board.

Even though Guzman made only one appearance on the show, given Community's cult status as a show, it would probably work for the fanbase. Not only have they been that devoted to the show, but they probably know the show by heart, so the reference would still be relevant all these years later. Guzman's lone appearance on the show worked as well as it did because he played the straight man to the increasingly unstable Dean. The added layer to that comedy was that it was Guzman's promised cameo that fueled the Dean to lose himself while trying to attain perfection while filming the commercial in the first place.

The Community movie has a lot of options regarding who they can bring back. The show largely acted like the characters from season 1 didn't exist after it wrapped up, but they had other memorable minor and one-off characters along the way. Paget Brewster, Keith David, and Jonathan Banks could potentially return as Frankie Dart, Elroy Patashnik, and Buzz Hickey, respectively. They could also bring back the Dean from city college, who was supposed to wage war on Greendale before Dan Harmon was fired. They could also bring back Pop-pop and Star Burns. Sadly, among the other notable side characters, they can't bring back Leonard since Richard Erdman died in 2019.

The Community movie will be released on Peacock.
