One artistic Nintendo fan has made a painting featuring Luigi as he appears in the Luigi’s Mansion series, and they even included secret Boos in the background. The artwork has caught the attention of many Nintendo fans on the internet, as its art style and unique twist capture the essence of the spooky series.

While Luigi often takes a backseat to his brother Mario, the Luigi’s Mansion series gives the green-capped plumber a chance to shine. Starting with the original Luigi’s Mansion on the GameCube in 2001, the series has grown to include two more installments, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon on the 3DS and Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the Switch. While each game has unique elements, the games predominantly center around Luigi using his trusty Poltergust to suck up troublesome ghosts. Recently, one gamer paid homage to the Nintendo series with a piece of stunning artwork.

In a post on Reddit, a Nintendo fan known as Molassiver shared their painting based on the Luigi’s Mansion games. The picture starred Luigi, who was clutching the nozzle of his Poltergust. The artist revealed that the fan art was an acrylic painting, and they elected to go with a black-and-white color palette. While Molassiver’s design encapsulated the nervous personality of the titular character, it was the background of the image that made it stand out. When shining a UV light on the image, a group of sinister Boos appeared behind Luigi.

This painting by Molassiver has gained an impressive amount of upvotes on Reddit, 4.1K in total. Unsurprisingly, a number of gamers wanted to know how the artist managed to create the secret Boos in the picture. Fortunately, Molassiver quickly responded, noting the effect was achieved by using black-light nail polish, which was invisible when applied to the painting.

This impressive artwork created by Molassiver comes as gamers have a big reason to be excited about the Luigi’s Mansion series. During the most recent Nintendo Direct, the company revealed that a remaster of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon was in development for the Switch. The remaster is expected to have enhanced visuals for the Switch’s more powerful hardware and could feature changes to controls and other quality-of-life improvements.

As this upcoming remaster for the Luigi’s Mansion series shows, the games starring the green plumber continue to be a focus for Nintendo. With the series remaining relevant for the foreseeable future, it will be interesting to see what other fan art gamers like Molassiver create based on the series in the coming months.
