How to Use the Dark-Light Device
The Dark-Light Device has two main functions: it's able to detect hidden furniture or Boos and it can bring portraits to life.
- To uncover objects or enemies with the Dark-Light Device, gamers must use it to scan an area where they believe there could be something hidden. If that is the case, it will slowly start to appear as the device charges up. If there is a hidden object, Spirit Balls will be released, and gamers must collect them. Once all the Spirit Balls have been vacuumed, the object will appear. If there is a hidden Boo, it will show itself upon being hit with dark light.
- Gamers can activate portraits using the Dark-Light Device, and this can lead to great amounts of treasure, gems, keys, or even fire sources. To do this, simply shine dark light onto the portrait until it's activated.
Available Dark-Light Device Upgrades
The Poltergust 5000 can be upgraded a total of five times in Luigi's Mansion 2, and some of these improvements target the Dark-Light Device attachment on Luigi's ghost-hunting machine.
Two of the Poltergust 5000's upgrades will increase the duration of the Dark-Light Device in Luigi's Mansion 2.
