This past week, Sony announced plans to host a special event in China titled the PlayStation China Press Conference. Teasers for the April 29 event hinted that it would focus on the PlayStation 5's launch in the region, but several games would also be showcased. It seems one game decided not to wait, however. Lost Soul Aside, a third-person action game independently developed in China, dropped a new 18-minute trailer after years of quiet following the game's announcement.

The 18-minute Lost Soul Aside trailer dives straight into the action. The game's protagonist has been declared a fugitive by The Church and is attacked by one of its hunters. A lengthy fight ensues that may be more cinematic than gameplay. Afterward, a more traditional action game level follows with exploration and smaller encounters with standard enemies. Eventually, the protagonist's hunters shatter a statue unleashing a powerful demon boss, leading to a trailer-concluding boss fight and cinematic.

As far as trailers go, it should provide everything a fan interested in Lost Soul Aside might want. There's a healthy amount of combat against both numerous foes and bosses. There's also a lot of story and lore teased, hinting at the protagonist's secrets, including his strange and powerful dragon sidekick/weapon. Now fans will be hoping for more at the PlayStation China Press Conference.

Lost Soul Aside first appeared in 2016, but it was a 2018 trailer that drew fans' attention.  The game's impressive Final Fantasy 15-esque visuals and Devil May Cry-esque action had game fans wanting more. Obviously, game development doesn't always work out like that. Clearly, developer Bing Yang is now ready to show more of the game. It hopefully won't take another three years for more information, however.

Lost Soul Aside is currently in development for PlayStation platforms.
