Upgrading weapons in Lords of the Fallen all the way to their maximum level is an expensive and time-consuming process, especially when it comes to gathering the materials needed for the reinforcement process. Large Deralium Shards, the third tier of upgrade material, are especially hard to come by.
Lords of the Fallen: Soulflay & Soulflay Charges Explained
Soulflaying in Lords of the Fallen might seem like a bit of an awkward action to use at first. However, it only becomes more important as time passes.
Players who are trying to get their first Lords of the Fallen weapon maxed out shouldn't have too hard of a time when it comes to finding Large Deralium Shards, but this becomes much more difficult when it comes to upgrading a second or even a third weapon. Luckily, Large Deralium Shards can be farmed, and players can get more than enough of these if they know where to look.
Lords of the Fallen Large Deralium Shard Farm
Large Deralium Shards can be picked up in pairs from very specific (and often hidden) spots all across Axiom. There's more than enough out there to max out a boss weapon, but they only spawn once per campaign. To actually farm Large Deralium Shards, players need to find and beat Holy Bulwarks — the same enemy type as the first boss that comes after the tutorial segment.
Holy Bulwarks sport the typical crusader look with bucket-style helmets, heavy armor, and two-handed maces. Two of these spawn in the Forsaken Fen — they are found in the mountain pass region near the Fen waypoint, and they can be reached by going up a bone ladder in the Umbral. Teleport to the Fen waypoint and go through the flooded cave tunnel shortcut to find the ladder.
Keep following the road to eventually spot Hallowed Sentinel patrols guarding the mountain pass. The first Holy Bulwark is hiding behind destructible objects near the bone ladder. The second one is farther into the mountain pass, standing guard by the zig-zagging dirt road leading to the Congregator of Flesh's chasm.
To make this farm flow more smoothly, players should place a Vestige Seed on the opposite side of the road leading to the second Bulwark. From the Fen waypoint, proceed normally toward the mountain pass, and after crossing the Umbral spine bridge, go left instead of right. The flower bed is on the clearing that overlooks the swamp. Plant a seed here so it can act as a fast travel point.
An alternative farming location is in the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers. There are a number of flower beds here that are near Holy Bulwark spawn locations. Such spots include the flower bed near the Kitchen as well as the corridor near the path leading to the Abiding Defenders boss arena.
Keep in mind that Large Deralium Shards have a low chance of dropping. Players will likely complete the entire Holy Bulwark armor set as well while they are farming for the shards.
