The Spurned Progeny is arguably the hardest boss that players will face in the early to mid stages of Lords of the Fallen. This lumbering giant has the damage to match its size, making it very intimidating at first.

However, like every other boss in Lords of the Fallen, players can beat this titanic monster by using the right strategy. With enough know-how and patience, the Spurned Progeny will eventually hit the floor and open up the rest of Upper Calrath for players to explore.

Lords of the Fallen: Spurned Progeny Boss Guide

The Spurned Progeny fight has two phases, though it enters the second one much earlier compared to most other bosses. When the boss hits about 80% health, it will vomit enough lava to cover the entirety of the arena's main floor, forcing players to fight on the battlements. Getting to this point can be difficult, however, as the Spurned Progeny has very strong one-shot potential with the majority of its attacks.

During the first phase, players are advised to avoid locking on to the boss at all. This is so they can pay more attention to what attacks the Spurned Progeny is about to do. Most of its moves are very easy to read except for two: the three-hit ground pound combo, and the sit-down slam attack. Players should always be on the lookout for these two moves.

As much as possible, avoid getting hit by the Spurned Progeny. Its attacks deal so much damage that they're often enough to one-shot anyone regardless of their armor and damage resistance values. Thankfully, its hardest hitting attacks are very slow and telegraphed. Be patient and wait for the right time to dodge.

Once the second phase starts, the Spurned Progeny becomes even more predictable. As mentioned, avoid its slam attacks at all costs and try to get used to the timing of its mouth-arm jabs. There is only enough time to get one or two attacks in during this phase, so be patient and keep dodging.

The Spurned Progeny charging a massive fireball in Lords of the Fallen

When the boss starts charging up a gigantic fireball from its mouth, take cover behind one of the walls in the paths connecting the battlement platforms, Then, once the fireball explodes, resume the fight as per usual. The only time player should be switching platforms is when the Spurned Progeny starts charging a fireball on top of a platform. This attack will cover the floor in lava.

The boss' moveset during the second phase is very predictable, yet extremely deadly. A single missed dodge can spell death, which is why it's important to not enter the Umbral before the second phase starts. This way, players get one extra life in case they get hit by a strong attack. Make sure to have upgraded weapons so the fight doesn't get drawn out.

When the Spurned Progeny reaches 25% HP, it will do the giant fireball attack more frequently. However, once the ball explodes, it will kneel down and start choking violently, giving players time to attack it. The lava on the ground floor will also have subsided by then. Immediately drop down after the explosion and get as many attacks in as possible before retreating to the battlements.

Lords of the Fallen is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
