The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's development has been difficult to track since its initial announcement with little-to-no information shared over a considerable period. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's delay, however, brought with it the first official look at the game's interpretation of Gandalf the Grey and Barad-dûr's the Mouth of Sauron.

The Game Awards 2021 is a week away as of today and now that its celebrated nominees have been announced, focus is on the big world premieres that will be at the show. Today it has been revealed that more information is in store for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum when The Game Awards airs on December 9.

The Game Awards' first substantial confirmation for games that will make an appearance in some capacity has begun with a tease for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The brief tease centers on Gollum as he emerges quietly from a rocky crevice and leaps at an unsuspecting Orc, suggesting that whatever is shared at The Game Awards may concentrate upon The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's gameplay and stealth-oriented maneuvers. Other than that insinuation, no other details are shared in the snippet besides The Game Awards' premiere date.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum deserves a featured slot in The Game Awards for its acclaimed source material franchise, let alone the emphasis it will likely take toward marketing if the game still intends to release in Fall 2022. Many fans argue that Gollum receiving a standalone game might breed future Middle-earth installments for other characters whose gameplay and narrative could be as similarly rich, and the success of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum could very well be what establishes subsequent games like it.

Because The Lord of the Rings: Gollum also does not have a concrete release date as of yet, it is possible that The Game Awards might be an appropriate stage for Daedalic to announce it. Indeed, significant announcements are reserved for The Game Awards and a simple gameplay showcase for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which has already had gameplay shown previously, seems to suggest that more might be offered.

Nonetheless, it will be exciting to see what information or content is shared from The Lord of the Rings: Gollum when The Game Awards airs next week.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is currently slated to release in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
