Xbox Game Pass subscribers will soon be saying bye to The Long Dark, but the survival game just received a major update. Microsoft has not made the formal announcement about all the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in April 2023, but it's been confirmed that The Long Dark will be leaving after April 15.
Xbox Game Pass games are added throughout each month, but when it comes to removals, they are pulled in bulk, and almost always on the 15th of every month or the last day of every month. There are at least eight games leaving Xbox Game Pass in April 2023, and it's possible all of them will have their last day on April 15. More clarification will likely come soon, but in the meantime, those interested in trying out The Long Dark's new update will want to do so ASAP.
The Long Dark is confirmed to be leaving Xbox Game Pass after April 15, giving subscribers less than two weeks to try the game if they haven't already. It also gives them precious little time to take advantage of The Long Dark's big Xbox update that has improved its performance on Xbox Series X/S consoles. This update came alongside the Tales from the Far Territory DLC for the popular survival game.
Those that try The Long Dark while it's still available on Xbox Game Pass and want to keep it should note that it will be available at a discount while listed on the service. Xbox Game Pass games are typically available for subscribers to buy to keep for their libraries at 20% off the normal asking price. So while The Long Dark typically costs $34.99, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can buy it for $27.99 while it's part of the lineup.
This applies to the other games leaving Xbox Game Pass in April 2023 of course, so subscribers should try the titles that are on their way out and see if there's anything they want to keep. Then again, Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be more interested in the new games being added to the service instead, and hopefully a full list of everything that's on the way is revealed sooner rather than later.
Previous release date announcements have clued fans in on some of the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2023, but the full picture has yet to be revealed. More information on that front should come sooner rather than later, though.
