Yoshimi Yasuda, the producer of Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP, has confirmed that the game will be getting a 2024 release date. Dragami Games originally announced a Lollipop Chainsaw remake back in July 2022, with a planned 2023 release window for the game’s tenth anniversary. However, over a year later, the publishers stated that the game would be delayed until Summer 2024. So, with Yasuda’s latest announcement, it looks like fans will finally be able to play the game in 2024.

The original Lollipop Chainsaw was released in 2012 to mixed reviews for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and was considered a game that never fully reached its full potential thanks to issues like clunky controls. The game follows Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader who must survive hordes of zombies using her pom poms and, as the title suggests, a chainsaw. While the game is as wacky as it sounds, fans found the combat to be fun with some clever dialogue, which led to it becoming a cult classic for some over the years.

Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Reveals Update Look for Juliet

With a remake of the 2012 game, Lollipop Chainsaw, coming sometime in the future, the developer gives a look at Juliet's updated look.

Now, a few days before 2024 begins, Yoshimi Yasuda announced on Twitter to fans that Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP would definitely be arriving in the new year. Beyond this release confirmation of 2024, Yasuda did not state if Dragami Games is still aiming for a summer launch. The Twitter announcement was accompanied by a screenshot of the game that features Juliet taking on a gigantic zombie with her trusty chainsaw. Additionally, Yasuda thanked fans for their messages over the year and also announced a giveaway that will begin on New Year’s Day with a Juliet figure as the prize.

A few months after it was announced that the game would be delayed, Yasuda also posted on Twitter that Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP would be a remaster rather than a remake based on fans’ requests. While the news did not go over well with some fans, the producer issued a statement on Twitter to ease fans’ concerns about the new change. In particular, Yasuda said that the remaster would keep both the story and Juliet’s design the same, as the team at Dragami Games believed that they were part of the reason why fans loved the original.

Besides the statement, Yasuda has been keeping fans updated about the game's development by posting often on Twitter to discuss several updates they are working on to improve the new game. In particular, his posts addressed changes such as shorter load times, adjusting hit detection, and enhanced visuals like resolution and FPS. While Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP does not have James Gunn, now the co-CEO of DC Studios, returning as a writer, gamers do not have much longer to wait until the game releases.
