Who has been cast in Loki Season 2?

Tom Hiddleston will reprise his titular role of Loki ahead of season 2, which has excited many fans of the infamous trickster. Disney+ has also confirmed that the majority of season 1’s main cast will be returning. This includes Sophie Di Martino who plays the alternate version of Loki – Sylvie. As seen in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Owen Wilson will be returning as Mobius. Season 2 will also see the return of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.

Season 2 is rumored to continue straight after season 1’s dramatic cliffhanger. Without a time jump, it will be exciting to see these characters straight back in action. With both Hiddleston and Di Martino returning to the screen, it will be interesting to see whether season 2 will continue Loki and Sylvie’s romantic plot line, which received a large quantity of backlash from fans after season 1’s release.

It's also speculated that season 2 will place some of season 1’s side characters in the spotlight, such as Eugene Cordero’s character, Casey. The fan favourite Casey works at the Time Variance Authority (TVA) headquarters, and undeniably had some of season 1’s best lines. Ahead of season 2’s release, it’s been confirmed that Cordero will be returning to the show as a series regular. Similarly, Tara Strong, who plays Miss Minutes, is rumored to have a bigger part in season 2’s narrative. Neil Ellice will also be returning to the MCU with a bang. Whilst his character, Hunter D-90, only had a minor role in season 1, it’s rumored that the soldier will be adopting an influential role amid Loki’s second season.

Whilst audiences can expect the return of familiar favorites, the second season will also feature plenty of newcomers to the MCU. It’s been confirmed that Rafael Casal (Blindspotting) will join the cast in an unreleased role. Season 2 will also contain an MCU debut from Katie Dickie (Game of Thrones), who is rumored to join Kang the Conqueror’s villainous crew. Liz Carr (Silent Witness) will also be joining Casal and Dickie in an unconfirmed role. Fans are also eagerly anticipating Ke Huy Quan’s introduction to the MCU. Quan, who rose to fame for his role in the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, will be playing the role of Ouroboros – the head of technology at the TVA. Audiences are excited to witness what these MCU newcomers will bring to the show.

During the initial set-up for Loki’s second season, Jonathan Majors was supposed to reprise his crucial role as Kang the Conqueror. However, due to his ongoing court case, Majors’ future in the MCU is currently uncertain. As his feature in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania confirmed, Majors was originally supposed to play the central villain of Marvel’s fifth phase. Filming for Loki had already wrapped before the domestic violence allegations surfaced against Majors, meaning that it’s likely that the second season will continue Kang’s plot line.

Whilst the majority of the second season’s plot remains uncertain, Disney+ have recently released a statement about what fans can expect from Loki’s return. Via The Direct, Disney confirmed that the show will pick up “in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority”. In a continuation of season 1’s cliffhanger ending, Disney+ stated that Loki will now be navigating “an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose”.

As Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s post-credits scene teased, Loki and Mobius are set to encounter Victor Timely – a variant of Kang the Conqueror. Because of this, it’s safe to assume that Loki will encounter some serious setbacks in his mission to restore the Multiverse and save his companions. After the release of Secret Invasion’s first two episodes, the stakes have already been raised for Marvel’s fifth phase, meaning that fans are nervously awaiting Loki’s fate.

As part of phase 5, Loki’s second season is expected to have a huge impact on Marvel’s Multiverse narrative. Notably, however, the recent synopsis contains no mention of Kang – the central character of Marvel’s fifth phase. Previously, the second season was expected to place heavy focus on Kang’s storyline, acting as a crucial part in the buildup to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. For now, the extent of Kang’s involvement in Loki’s second season is currently unknown.
