Fast food giant McDonald's has something exciting up its sleeve, and Marvel Studios' Loki season 2 plays a crucial role. The multinational corporation teased a surprise for fans yesterday, which included a reference to the upcoming second season of the Disney Plus series. However, the announcement today is bigger than expected. While fans were pondering over a customized sauce, McDonald's has revealed a plan to honor several projects going back to the 1980s.

Loki season 2 premieres on Disney Plus in less than two months, and the promotion for the project is slowly picking up steam. A tie-in with McDonald's will only build up the hype for the much-awaited season. However, in the latest announcement by the fast food giant, it has been confirmed that several classic films and television series that have featured McDonald's in the past are the inspiration for a unique, exclusive meal that will be launched soon.

In a press release circulated by McDonald's, the fast food giant revealed the “As Featured In Meal,” a “collection of fan-favorite menu items that have made iconic appearances throughout film, television, and music.” On August 14, the meal will be launched globally and be available in “more than 100 countries.” The meal offers a choice between three main menu items, including the iconic Big Mac, and Loki's influence is a Sweet ‘N Sour Sauce, as was revealed in an employee video on TikTok. In addition to the meal, fans can get their hands on custom merchandise and “never-before-seen content.”

Fans have already seen a glimpse of McDonald's featured in Loki season 2, with the official trailer featuring Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie working at the fast food restaurant. Loki seems to arrive as a customer, and perhaps this is where he orders a meal. To enhance the fan experience, McDonald's is offering a “sneak peek via a themed AR experience on Snapchat.” Any fan who orders one of the restaurant’s "As Featured In Meal" can scan the sauce lid on Snapchat and “unlock exclusive content developed by Marvel Studios.”

That’s not all; McDonald's is transforming one of its branches in Brooklyn to transport fans back in time. The scene in Loki season 2 inspired this idea, and the fast food restaurant will replicate a store from 1982, complete with McDonald's memorabilia. This unique experience will only be available for three days starting August 30. Loki is the first Marvel Studios series to have a second season, with nine television series already having premiered, and it seems like the studio isn’t holding back on promotions.

Loki season 2 will premiere on Disney Plus on October 6, 2023.
