New details about season 2 of Loki were unveiled during the Marvel Studios presentation at D23. As part of the panel, it was revealed that actor Ke Huy Quan would be joining the show ahead of season 2.

Loki had a very successful first season, with fans eager to see more of Tom Hiddleston's fan-favorite character. The series revolves around the Time Variance Authority, or TVA, which sought to control the timeline and keep it under their control, purging any 'variants' that may emerge. Unfortunately for Loki, that includes him; a timeline branch in Avengers: Endgame meant that a variant of Loki escaped the Battle of New York and therefore survived being killed by Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War (since this did not happen to the variant).

According to Deadline, Tom Hiddleston revealed that season 2 would take place right as season 1 ended - with the TVA now radically different following the defeat of Kang in the season 1 finale, Mobius seemingly not remembering Loki, and a new multiverse to contend with. Everything, Everywhere, All at Once actor Ke Huy Quan also joined the stage as part of the announcement that he would be joining the cast (“I’m very confused: Is this not the Indiana Jones panel?" he joked, referencing the earlier panel and his role in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom). The character's name was not revealed, but he was stated to be an employee for the TVA.

Alongside the returning cast, Quan will be joining Rafael Casal as newcomers to the show. There'll be plenty of ground to cover - season 1 of Loki ended up being the catalyst for the entire Multiverse saga that's underway in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Season 2 is shaping up to be just as important to the overall story arc, even if Loki himself has yet to make a reappearance in the films.

Season 2 of Loki can very well be one of the most impactful tv shows on Disney+. Its first season featured the introduction, and death, of the Multiverse Saga's main villain, Kang, a time-traveling man with many variants about to go to war with one another. Kang is next set to show up in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but since he's a character that can be anywhere, at any time, and functionally immortal due to his infinite variants throughout the multiverse, maybe he'll make a reappearance in season 2 as well.

Loki season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.
