Today, Tokyo based developer UNIVRS announced a release date for its upcoming VR racing game, Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing. The game is the latest entry in the anime-influenced series, and will be the first time that Little Witch will be playable in VR.

The game will be coming to the Oculus Quest on October 13 of this year. But fans who have been unable to get their hands on an Oculus quest due to coronavirus related shortages won't be completely out of luck. The game is also set to release for the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR, although not until early 2021.

Players will play as a witch who enrolls at the Luna Nova School of Witchcraft, the location from the previous Little Witch games. From there, the player will be able to interact with characters at the school, customize their own broom, and most importantly, race in VR. There will be 10 different race tracks, and there will be both singleplayer and multiplayer VR racing.

One thing that makes this game special is the promise of "motion sickness reduction technology." Many players have described negative physical reactions to VR, including disorientation, headaches, and motion sickness. This is especially true for racing games, or games with a lot of movement. If UNIVRS is able to significantly reduce motion sickness, this would be a huge step forward for VR. This could open the door to a whole new generation of VR racing games.

Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing has a planned release date of October 13th for the Oculus Quest. It will be released for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR in early 2021.
