The protagonist of Little Nightmares, the secondary hero of Little Nightmares II, and a supporting character in Very Little Nightmares is none other than Six. She is nine years old and is perhaps best known for her iconic bright yellow raincoat.

In all the games (as well as the DLC expansion Secrets of the Maw and the digital comic book), Six is always trying to do one thing: survive. The series features a world where atrocious monsters are rampant and Six will do anything (and everything) that it takes to make it out of there alive.

Updated December 17, 2021 by Tom Bowen: With Bandai Namco having recently referred to Little Nightmares as one of its "Headline IPs," the future is looking pretty bright for Tarsier Studios' fantastic horror series. In fact, this isn't the only positive exposure that the franchise has received as of late either, with its Japanese publisher having also set up a live-action art display to promote its latest installment at the 2021 Tokyo Game Show. This should come as great news to fans of Little Nightmares and its loveable yet slightly terrifying star, Six. For those who are still unfamiliar with her, here's everything one could ever need to know about Little Nightmares' Six.

Six Looks Rough

While most of the characters in the games are adults, Six is a child; not only that, she is tiny. Six is not even a third of their height and has an extremely thin frame. She sports a black bob-cut hairstyle with bangs that cover the entire top portion of her face. Only her nose and mouth are visible.

Six is most recognizable in her bright yellow raincoat with three buttons, two pockets, and a hood (that she usually uses). She wears no shoes and only possesses a little lighter. That being said, in Very Little Nightmares, Six is seen in a white short-sleeved shirt, and in Little Nightmares II, she wears a stained button-up and a cardigan.

Six May Be Evil

It is not an easy pill to swallow but there's a strong possibility that Six may genuinely be an evil character. She is the anti-hero of the games. When coming across other children throughout them, Six does not even think twice about trying to save them. She ignores them.

The player also finds out that Six has an insatiable hunger that must be quenched with anything or anyone. In Little Nightmares, a Nome approaches Six to offer a sausage to consume. Instead, she eats him (and leaves behind the sausage).

Six Hates Vegetables

Another clue as to Six's evil nature can be found whenever the young child is eating. A darker version of herself can usually be found whenever she's scoffing down food, though this isn't the only interesting fact regarding the character's diet and eating habits.

According to a tweet from the official Twitter page for Little Nightmares II, Six is not fond of vegetables. Another tweet from the page hinted that Six may have been right not to eat the aforementioned sausage from the Nome; suggesting that it probably wasn't made of pork.

Six Always Shows Up

A lot of different characters have been introduced across the Little Nightmares franchise, which now includes games, DLC expansions, and even a short comic book series. Only one of these appears in every single piece of Little Nightmares media though, with most instead limited to a single outing.

Having served as the main protagonist in the original game, it should come as little surprise that that character is Six. Despite the frequency with which she appears, however, there's still a lot that fans don't know about the character, including her true origins or, indeed, what she even is.

Six Has Trust Issues

Little Nightmares II Mono Helps Six

At the start of Little Nightmares II, Six rejects help from Mono (even though she clearly needed it). Only when it becomes necessary does she team up with Mono and save him whenever it benefits her to do so.

Additionally, Six is apprehensive to help from The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat in Very Little Nightmares. She actually saves her from the Pretender too at one point (though to no avail, unfortunately).

Little Nightmares Six Eats The Lady

While Six may come off as a literal wild animal, she is actually quite intelligent and sly. Whenever being chased, Six can dodge and throw her enemies off guard by using her surroundings whenever the opportunity presents itself.

The games are also full of puzzles and Six (controlled by the player of course) can solve each and every one of them. For example, she figures out that the Lady at the end of Little Nightmaresis weak to mirrors. Not only that, but Six also realizes how powerful the Lady is and proceeds to absorb her strength by eating her after defeating her.

Six Is Not Afraid To Assault Others

While Mono shows restraint throughout Little Nightmares II and only uses force when absolutely necessary, Six has no problem attacking anyone and anything. In fact, players would be forgiven for thinking that she enjoys needless violence given how often she can be seen hurting others throughout the games.

After being rescued in the School, Six immediately kills one of the Bullies with her bare hands. In the Hospital, she goes around breaking fingers off of mannequins and, after finishing off the Doctor, walks over to the fire that burned him alive to warm herself up. She also kicks one of the Viewers' bodies just for fun.

Six Is Secretly A Monster

In Little Nightmares II, when Mono discovers Six in the Black Tower, she looks pretty different to her usual seld. In fact, the changes are so drastic that Six no longer appears human. Instead, she has become a horrifying monster with long spider-like limbs.

At this point, begins to Six rage around on all fours like a rabid dog. Her body is lanky and ghastly and her hair is much longer than usual. In monster form, Six appears to treasure her music box, and when angered, has no problem physically attacking Mono while in this state.

Six Is Indeed Female

At first, the developers of the games, Tarsier Studios, didn't mention Six's gender, leading to a lot of speculation from players. Most were convinced that she was female, but some questioned whether Six might be a boy, genderless, or even something else entirely.

As the games got more and more popular, however, the majority of the fanbase kind of just began referring to Six as a girl. Then the developers themselves started doing the same thing and eventually began leaving little hints throughout the games that cemented the fact that Six is indeed female.

Six Might Actually Care About Mono

Little Nightmares II Six Betrays Mono

Throughout the entirety of Little Nightmares II, the player witnesses a blossoming friendship between Six and Mono. Only at the very end of the game does the player find out that Six was just using Mono for her own survival and escape. That being said, when the Thin Man is unleashed, Six pulls Mono away from the transmission and also helps him run away when the Thin Man chases the pair.

There are other examples as well displaying Mono being the exception to Six's ruthlessness. Moreover, there is a secret cutscene that shows Six may have let Mono fall to his demise because she would rather he die from the Black Tower than by her own hands (or mouth, because she would likely have eaten him eventually).

Six Can Actually Die

Little Nightmares II Six Helps Mono

Right now, Six is the only non-playable character that can perish for good non-canonically. At the end of Very Little Nightmares, if the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat does not save Six when she's about to fall then Six actually dies. After refusing to help each other, the Pretender will catch up and kill her.

Also, at the beginning of Little Nightmares II, if Six is too close to Mono when they are running away from the Hunter then both will be shot if he's accurate enough. That being said, most enemies in the game don't really react to Six throughout the story, yet target Mono without hesitation.

Six Is Not From The Maw

Little Nightmares Six The Ending

While the player finds out relatively little about Six's backstory throughout the games, it is mentioned that she "belongs elsewhere." As far as most fans are concerned, this must mean that she is not actually from The Maw.

In the comic book, it is actually revealed that Six used to live in a city somewhere before being captured by the Ferryman. Also, in Very Little Nightmares, the player finds out that Six was once a prisoner in the Nest.
