In Like A Dragon: Ishin, some of the best gear in the game is acquired via crafting. This means players who want to strengthen Ryouma as much as possible will need to gather crafting materials and put together better weapons and armor.
One crafting material that players are likely to have trouble finding in Like A Dragon: Ishin is a Golden Medicine Case. Players will need several of these for certain crafting recipes, but they are only acquired as random drops from some parts of the Battle Dungeon, along with a single one as a reward for a certain substory. Here's how players can get this rare resource.
One Guaranteed Reward (Substory 45)
Players can earn one guaranteed Golden Medicine Case by completing Substory 45: It's A Long Story. This is the final part of a substory chain in which players meet a chatterbox named Sakiko. This chain consists of Substories 43-45, and the entire chain can be accessed as early as Chapter 2. Correctly answering all of Sakiko's questions in Substory 45 will reward players with the Golden Medicine Case.
Where to Farm Golden Medicine Cases
Players are going to need more of these, so now it's time for the harder part. Players can acquire Golden Medicine Cases from the Battle Dungeon activity, where they appear as a random drop in Toyotomi Residence Battle Dungeon maps. Players can access this by completing the tour of the Shinsengumi headquarters in Chapter 5: The Iron Code, and then completing Battle Dungeons until the Toyotomi Residence is unlocked.
Players may need to do a lot of grinding in order to acquire the Golden Medicine Cases this way, since they are a random drop and reward. However, with a bit of patience, it's possible to acquire as many as necessary by simply taking on Toyotomi Residence Battle Dungeons.
What Golden Medicine Cases are Used For
After getting Golden Medicine Cases, players are able to use them to craft two powerful weapons. Firstly, five Golden Medicine Cases will be needed to create the "Blade of the Shogun," a powerful sword accessed from the Worn Sword Smithing Tree. An additional Golden Medicine Case will be required to create the Nihongo, a powerful spear accessed from the Spear Smithing Tree.
These are the only two recipes that require Golden Medicine Cases, but these weapons are necessary for 100% completion of Like a Dragon: Ishin. What's more, they can also be very useful in combat due to their high stats, since they are each in the final stage of their respective Smithing Trees. The Golden Medicine Cases may take some work to find, but the weapons are worth it.
