There is so much to do outside of Like a Dragon's story that it can be easy to miss certain essential materials to find and use so Ryoma can craft valuable swords. The samurai must locate Key materials to build new ones and upgrade the Samurai's inventory.
One of the most valuable materials Ryoma needs to improve his weaponry is by finding Silver Scrap. Some materials like silver can't be purchased in shops around Kyo in Like a Dragon: Ishin. The valuable metal isn't even available at the blacksmith's place. There is a way to farm silver scrap more effectively by using the barracks and following this guide.
Unlocking The Barracks
Before thinking about looking for silver scrap, players will need to unlock the barracks. This is done by following the main quest line in Chapter 3: The Mibu Wolves. To gain full access to get base, Ryoma has to prove himself in a battle against Nakagura and become Captain of the Third Division for the Shinsengumi.
The Shinsengumi barracks are located at the northernmost point of Mibu. It is a large building with two guards at the front gate, at the end of a footpath.
Bandit Missions
The most effective way to get silver scrap is by completing Bandit Missions inside the barracks. Ryoma will participate in these missions by speaking to the Mission Receptionist inside the base. He is located on the eastern side of the barracks. Ryoma must approach him to start the cave battles in Like a Dragon: Ishin.
After a brief tutorial, Ryoma can complete and repeat raids on Bandit Caves. Use these steps to gain silver crap in Like a Dragon: Ishin:
- Speak to the receptionist and choose the battle option.
- Select Dispatch.
- Select the Bandits' Cave.
- Highlight the Dispatch Location.
- Press the Triangle button on PlayStation or Y on Xbox to view obtainable materials.
- Ensure that Silver Scrap is listed and start the mission.
Unfortunately, all loot on these missions is randomized. So it's a hit-or-miss situation whether or not Ryoma will collect the silver scrap.
Luckily the first few assignments are short, and if Ryoma is sufficiently leveled and equipped, he can clear out the caves relatively quickly. The Bandit missions can be repeated as many times as the player wants.

If players don't want to spend time grinding out materials at the Bandit Caves, they can purchase The Sword Upgrade Materials Kit DLCs instead. The packs cost $2.99 each and can be bought multiple times. In addition to several valuable items, the player gets 20 pieces of silver scrap from the DLC.
