In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, players will regularly utilize Julie’s Gearworks to craft and improve their gear as they make their way through the game’s various challenges. Enhancing a weapon increases its attack and defense and also unlocks powerful branding slots. Players will utilize five distinct materials which are used exclusively for upgrading weapons and serve no other purpose.

Each of these materials contributes a specific number of points towards increasing a weapon's enhancement level, with each level requiring a certain number of points to complete. The type of material used does not affect the upgrade process, ensuring all tiers of material are valuable throughout the game, regardless of the player's progress or the weapon's current upgrade status.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth - How to Craft All 7-Star Weapons (All Base Weapon Locations)

Learn where to find every weapon required for crafting each job's best 7-star weapons in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

The requirement to increase a weapon's strength by +1 varies depending on the weapon and its current enhancement level. Reaching enhancement levels of +10, +30, and +50 unlocks brand slots, which allow players to purchase and insert powerful brands to gain additional benefits. Here's everything players need to know about getting their hands on weapon enhancement materials in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

It is recommended for players to spread weapon upgrades across all active characters’ weapons while higher quality materials are more scarce, rather than dumping all materials into a single weapon, aiming to achieve at least a +10 enhancement level early on to access the first brand slot.

Where to Get Weapon Enhancement Materials

There are five types of materials that are used for weapon enhancement at Julie’s Gearworks. As players advance through Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, they will begin to encounter higher tier materials that contribute more points towards a weapon's enhancement level. Players can see how many of each of these materials they have in the top right corner while working on weapons at Julie's Gearworks.

Players can also exchange unwanted weapons and receive materials by selecting the "Material Exchange" option. However, players should be sure to avoid accidentally exchanging the five-star weapons necessary for crafting the ultimate 7-star weapons.

The only alternate use for any unwanted weapons outside crafting and scrapping for materials is to sell them at Pawn Shops throughout the game. While the yield from Material Exchange is fairly underwhelming, the selling prices for most commonly obtained weapons aren't that great, either.

The five types of enhancement materials players can obtain, and their contribution to weapon enhancement, include:

Material

Enhancement Level Contribution

Iron Fragments

1 Upgrade Value

Iron Chunk

2 Upgrade Value

Iron Ore

4 Upgrade Value

Pure Steel

8 Upgrade Value

Lustrous Steel

16 Upgrade Value

The likelihood of obtaining superior quality materials, which contribute more points when enhancing, increases in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's later chapters. These higher-level materials are essential for upgrading endgame 7-star weapons, which demand significant material amounts for each enhancement level.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – How to Switch Between Hawaii and Japan

Free travel between the two locations is not possible until Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's Premium Adventure mode. Here's how to do it.

Initially, Iron Fragments are the most common enhancement materials found by players. These can be acquired from various sources, including collecting sparkling items throughout the game world, treasure hunting in dumpsters, under cars, and vending machines, and defeating street enemies in Honolulu and Isezaki Ichinjo.

As the game progresses, the quality of materials from treasure hunts improves, and enemies begin to drop higher-level materials more frequently, including Iron Ore and occasionally Pure Steel. This is especially true after a certain event in Infinite Wealth’s story results in an increase in levels for all enemies in Hawaii.

In the latest stages and post-game of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, enemies encountered on the streets and within dungeons such as Hawaiian Haunt EX, Yokohama Underground EX, and The Big Swell are usually level 50 or higher. These enemies almost invariably drop the highest level materials upon defeat, which is Lustrous Steel.
