Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth improves upon a lot of its predecessor's combat mechanics, including the number of party members players have available to them and the classes they have access to. With the introduction of mechanics like positioning and the Hype Meter adding more depth to battles, it's important that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth players have their party built to capitalize on the game's intricate combat system. As such, there are some clear standouts among the game's playable party members that make them more useful than others.

With the shift from an action-brawler to a turn-based JRPG in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, players now need to consider how to strategically build their party to adapt to any potential combat situation. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth builds upon this system by introducing even more playable party members, and eventually splitting the group into two separate parties. While this split means players end up with fewer overall options for party composition, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's job system makes up for this limitation, and players will want to ensure they are pairing the game's best characters with their ideal job.

As the series builds upon its JRPG combat system, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth goes out of its way to solve a major problem of the previous game.

S-Tier

Kazuma Kiryu

It's not surprising that the legendary Dragon of Dojima would be the strongest party member in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This is the first time players get to experience a playable Kiryu in the context of the series' new turn-based combat mechanics, and the game does a great job of adapting Kiryu's classic fighting styles to this new system. Kiryu's Dragon of Dojima class is incredibly versatile, allowing him to swap between three different fighting styles during combat, and his stat growth is perfect for building Kiryu into a tank that can carry the party through most of the game.

Ichiban Kasuga

While he doesn't have the same level of strength as Kiryu, it's hard to deny how strong Kasuga is in his own right. His unique Hero job gives Kasuga the flexibility to fill almost any role in the party, which is useful given he can't be switched out. However, Kasuga also has access to the exclusive Sujimancer job, which allows him to summon captured Sujimon to use in battle, opening the door to even more potential combat options and cementing Kasuga as an incredibly versatile party member.

Eric Tomizawa

Tomizawa might have surprised some Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth players with how useful he can be in combat. While he doesn't have the same legendary status as Kiryu or Kasuga, Tomizawa's Cabbie job is surprisingly versatile and gives him access to a variety of different elemental offensive magic skills that take advantage of his high magic stat growth. Additionally, Tomizawa can take on the Desperado job to further capitalize on his fantastic magic stat and utilize some of the class' area of effect attacks to hit multiple enemies.

A-Tier

Seonhee

Although Seonhee plays a major role in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, this is the first time the Geomijul leader has been a playable party member. Players won't get access to Seonhee until Chapter 8 of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but she is a fantastic addition to the party given her high DPS potential and her default Assassin job is solid right out of the gate. However, Seonhee really excels with the Night Queen job, which boosts her physical strength even further and gives her access to great support skills as well.

Chitose Fujinomiya

As another newcomer to the series, Chitose offers some solid team-building options for players looking to add a great support character to their party. Her Heiress default class offers some good support options for both healing the party and inflicting status conditions on enemies, but she really shines when in the Housekeeper or Idol jobs. Housekeeper allows Chitose to add a bit of magic to her repertoire, and Idol allows her to lean heavily into support skills.

Yu Nanba

Nanba fills a similar role as he did in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but the added mechanics in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth help him stand out even more. Like Tomizawa, Nanba specializes in magic skills, and his default Homeless Guy job provides players with plenty of strong area of effect skills. While Nanba doesn't have quite the same range of skills as Tomizawa, he still has a high magic stat that players should take advantage of.

B-Tier

Tianyou Zhao

Zhao is a strong physical attacker in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but is held back by being one of the last characters to join the party. His default Gangster job showcases how well Zhao performs with blades and a high agility stat. Ideally, Zhao should take on the Chef job since this gives him access to both blunt and blade skills, expanding his offensive move set and increasing his overall utility.

Koichi Adachi

Adachi fulfills a similar role as Kiryu when he joins the party in Chapter 7 of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but he isn't nearly as useful as the Dragon of Dojima. He should mainly be used as a tank, given that his default Detective job excels in defense while severely limiting his agility. The Samurai job makes Adachi a much more useful party member with an increase in both offense and defense, but he still falls short of being useful for much else beyond tanking hits.

Saeko Mukoda

Saeko is another Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth character who can adequately fulfill the support role in the party, but she is not as strong of a supporter as a character like Chitose. She doesn't join the party until Chapter 8, and her default Barmaid job isn't the best compared to other options. As such, Saeko really only excels when in a stronger support class like Idol, which should give her the skills necessary to effectively support the party through Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's endgame.

C-Tier

Joongi Han

While Joongi is a powerful fighter with his default Hitman job, he doesn't join the party until very late in the game, making it difficult to invest in him as a party member. Players who want to utilize this party member can get the most out of him in the Desperado class. However, it's likely not worth the time to grind this class for Joongi given how close to the ending he joins.
