RGG Studio Head Masayoshi Yokoyama has confirmed that Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be the longest game in the series. The Yakuza series has been running since 2005, but Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth may blow away the expectations of long-time fans.

There are over 20 games connected to SEGA's Yakuza franchise, with Judgment and Yakuza:Like A Dragon connected to the same universe. Traditional Yakuza titles offer fast action combat, while Yakuza: Like A Dragon focuses on turn-based mechanics, and Judgment has more investigation elements. While each spin-off series offers its own style, they all still relate to the locations and characters of Yakuza in some way. Many of these games already take many hours to complete but Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth could top them all.

During a recent interview translated to English by Automaton Media, RGG Studio Head Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed some details about Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. According to the developer, the next title will be the longest game in the series. Yokoyama confirmed that finishing the game would take more than two all-night gameplay sessions. The developer also suggested that players might get sick if they try to complete the game in one go. With Infinite Wealth having a festive atmosphere, Yokoyama hopes to provide lots of hype for it ahead of its launch.

Infinite Wealth is a monster-class game longer than anything we’ve made so far. If you go at it continuously, you’ll get sick, and it won’t end with just one or two all-nighters.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon takes over 45 hours to finish the main story and Yakuza 5 provides 50 hours of campaign, so Infinite Wealth will have to cross a high bar. As Masayoshi Yokoyama hinted, Infinite Wealth will top both games, so it may exceed 60 hours of gameplay. Although the game's story and some side content have been teased, it's currently unclear how much time players will spend elsewhere. This game will top even the latest one released by SEGA, Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Because the new content being teased focuses on side activities like the Dondoko Island tropical resort, it may offer more hours outside the campaign. Given that Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth's Dondoko Island offers tons of customization, players may put more time into the side content in this game than prior ones. As some Yakuza games have taken over 100 hours to fully complete, this announcement may tease an even longer experience than that.
