Highlights

  • Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth introduces a party system with different jobs for each member that impact combat and support abilities.
  • Ichiban Kasuga has the most job options, with players having to carefully choose a job for him since being knocked out is an instant game over.
  • The Hero, Sujimancer, and Samurai jobs are among the best for Ichiban, offering a mix of attack power, healing abilities, and high DPS respectively. Only the Freelancer job is truly weak, as it is very one-dimensional.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth maintains its predecessors' bold jump to turn-based combat, with its party system featuring the same job mechanic that defined the 2020 release. Each party member can unlock and adopt different jobs that impact the way they dress, but more importantly, these jobs completely change the combat or support focus that is available to a character.

As the protagonist of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, it is no surprise that Ichiban Kasuga has the most jobs available to him, with players having to choose between 11 different jobs that usually require some tough unlock requirements to be met in order to be used in-game. Unlike other party members, Ichiban being knocked out in combat is an instant game over, so the job that players choose for him is massively important. Each job comes with its own unique skills and standard attacks, as well as weaknesses and resistance to certain status effects, and some jobs offer a greater overall bonus to Ichiban's attacking force and survivability compared to others.

This list will only focus on base-game jobs, not including the Linebacker job which is only available through paid DLC.

S-Tier - The Best Jobs Available to Ichiban

Hero Job

An obvious but logical job choice for Ichiban Kasuga is his iconic Hero role, which players will unlock very early on in the game's narrative. The same job that Ichiban used as standard in 2020's Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Hero gives Ichiban some extremely powerful individual and AoE attacks while also possessing some useful healing abilities that he can use on himself or other allies. As the standard job that most players will use, the Ichiban-exclusive hero role is not confusingly complex, yet still offers a fantastic blend of attack and support that sees it at the top of his job list.

Sujimancer Job

The Sujimancer job is one of the most difficult to unlock, requiring the player to advance through the Sujimon trainer storyline to the point of defeating the first of the Discreet Four before it is made available. Once unlocked, the Sujimancer job allows Ichiban to summon any Sujimon that he has defeated outside normal combat, bringing an untold amount of variety and versatility to the party. While the base attack stats of the Sujimancer are low, the real power lies in summoning the right Sujimon for a given situation, which can come in the form of devastating attacks or life-saving heals when fights come down to the wire.

Samurai Job

Players can unlock the Samurai job through the Trolley Tour option at Alo Happy Tours, with Ichiban also needing a Confidence level of five to actually equip the role. As expected, the Samurai is defined by extremely high attack and defense stats, turning Ichiban into an even deadlier force during combat. Although playing as a Samurai makes Ichiban lose a lot of the support abilities of other roles, the DPS capabilities of the job make it one of the best Infinite Wealth has to offer.

A Tier - Ichiban Jobs That Players Should Definitely Consider

Action Star Job

The Action Star job is also made available through Alo Happy tours, this time via the Parasailing experience. Requiring a Charisma level of four, the Action Star is one of the most health-heavy jobs in Infinite Wealth, making it a great fit for Ichiban, who needs to stay on his feet more than any other party member. While Action Star has a fairly limited ability pool that makes it difficult to damage multiple enemies at once, the health benefits of the job makes it a fantastic pick for Ichiban.

Desperado Job

Desperado can be unlocked through the expensive Water Gun Shootout course and requires a Style level of five, being one of the most high-risk high-reward jobs for Ichiban in the entire game. The attacking output of Desperado is massive, with high damage attacks combining with a range of debuffs and status ailments, making it very difficult for enemies to deal with. Despite this, Desperado comes at the cost of a low health pool, meaning players will have to master the job's offensive capabilities to negate how vulnerable it can leave Ichiban.

Breaker Job

The Breaker Job is not unlocked until later on in Infinite Wealth's story, requiring the player to visit an Alo Happy location back in Japan with a Charisma level of four. Breaker becomes a great choice at its higher levels once most of its abilities are unlocked, becoming one of the best roles for AoE attacks that can provide huge blows to several enemies at once. As well as this, each Breaker attack provides stat boosts to Ichiban, making it even more powerful in grueling fights that last a while.

B Tier - Viable Jobs Ichiban Can Choose From

Host Job

Like the Breaker, the Host job is a later-game unlock, also requiring a Charisma level of four. The Host is a magic-focused class with a fairly weak health pool, but it can be a great role for Ichiban once its abilities are mastered. If players focus on raising Ichiban's magic level, then a wide range of powerful abilities can be used via Host and stacked on certain enemies to deal massive amounts of damage. Also coming with a range of elemental attacks, the Host is a decent choice for Ichiban that players should consider using.

Chef Job

The Chef job possesses the same unlock requirements as Host and Breaker, with fairly balanced stats across the board. This job is perfect for debuffing enemies and comes with some solid flame elemental attacks, and can be combined well with other party members to make the most of any status effects that the Chef can inflict. While the magic and attack stats of the Chef are solid, it comes at the cost of low defense, which can leave Ichiban quite vulnerable.

Aquanaut Job

The Aquanaut is one of the first universal male jobs that players will unlock, coming from a free experience that acts as a tutorial for Infinite Wealth's Alo Happy system. This job is defined by its well-balanced base stats, offering a good variety of damage-based abilities and support for harder engagements. While the Aquanaut job can be a fun choice for players, other well-rounded jobs like Sujimaster and Hero cover the same bases while offering a wider variety of overall skills.

Pyrodancer Job

Pryodancer can be unlocked once Ichiban reaches Passion level three, predictably focusing on fire-based elemental attacks while offering a surprising amount of buffs that players can smartly use. While the Pyrodancer seems like a great job at face value, it possesses extremely low defense stats that make Ichiban very vulnerable, with its move-set not having the same impact that makes similarly frail jobs like the Desperado worthwhile.

C Tier - Ichiban's Most One-Dimensional Job Option

Freelancer Job

The Freelancer job is the first Ichiban-specific job that players use very early on in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The ability of the Freelancer class is reflective of how early in the game it is made available, with the story quickly pushing the player to adopt the much better Hero job. While Freelancer does have good attacking stats, it is a very one-dimensional role with a limited amount of skills, and every other job that Ichiban can use offers more dynamic gameplay with a wider range of combat avenues.
