In the Like a Dragon series, it is not always the main characters that get to shine. In fact, over the years, there has been a list of interesting and unique characters that have made a name for themselves as part of the adventure of Kiryu Kazuma and Ichiban Kasuga. This aspect is further enhanced with the Joryu clan mechanic in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

As part of the Coliseum fights at The Castle, players will need to recruit capable fighters to join the cause and be part of the many different encounters. While each combatant brings their own pros and cons to the arena, they can be enhanced when they have a better relationship with Kiryu. This guide will help players understand just how to bond completely with Joryu Clan members to unlock their full potential in Like a Dragon Gaiden.

Every new joiner to the Joryu Clan has the potential to bond even deeper with Kiryu, and it is a worthwhile process since it makes their Heat abilities more potent in the Coliseum. In fact, going all the way for 10 Joryu Clan members will unlock a trio of trophies and achievements for players who invest time and effort.

To bond, players can fight with the selected Joryu Clan members in the different fights in the Coliseum, or use consumables that can be purchased at the Fighter's Lounge on The Castle. Each successful fight will reward 100 Bond XP along with combat XP that goes towards their levels.

A complete bond goes beyond just reaching a level 3 Bond indicated by the Bond Gauge for each individual Joryu Clan member; it requires these fighters to be at the maximum level of 20 as well.

With 100 Bond XP earned per match, that means a Joryu Clan member has to fight alongside the player for 20 matches to reach level 3. As for their combat level, the amount of XP given will depend on the match itself, so the tougher the conditions, the more XP will be rewarded. For those flush with cash, consider getting the Guide to Cooperative Fighting consumables at the bar. Using six of the highest-tier ones will get a fighter close to level 20, and it only takes a few more fights to max them out.

Be sure to outfit Kiryu with the best gear and abilities as well to make the fights easier, so more time can be spent on the more challenging fights to garner the most XP.
