Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed the audition finalists for the upcoming Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name spin-off, with one of the most prominent finalists being VTuber Kson. The Like a Dragon franchise features many of the characters having realistic faces, usually based on the actors they are portrayed by. This can be seen with the villains, supporting cast, and even the hostess characters that can be encountered throughout a player's time while playing these games. Past games saw some of these hostesses being played and based on famous Japanese adult video stars or actors.With Like a Dragon Gaiden featuring the return of the Cabaret Club minigame, it means that a brand-new set of hostesses will be featured as well. It opened the first round of auditions for the role of an in-game hostess back in November, with the second round in late January. These auditions were led by the series' main director, Masayoshi Yokoyama, with a number of actresses and other stars being present. Among these candidates was a prominent VTuber and Like a Dragon fan, Kson.Known as Ksononair, she is a prominent American-Japanese livestreamer who does both on-camera streaming and VTubing. She is one of the most popular VTubers, currently sitting at 1.24 million subscribers on YouTube, with a prominent Japanese and English-speaking audience. Kson is also a huge Like a Dragon fan, even learning Japanese because of the games. She also has jokingly considered series protagonist Kiryu Kazuma her "husband" to boot. As such, many fans, including herself, were very thrilled to hear that she had made it to the final round of the audition process, alongside other prominent actors and names.
According to QooApp, Kson was asked about how she would speak with Kiryu himself as a hostess. She laughed, stating that since Kiryu is a person who is interested in a lot of different things, she hopes she could talk to him about VTubers. The production crew also asked similar questions to the other participants, as inspiration for what topics and ideas can be approached when writing for Like a Dragon Gaiden. In total, there were ten finalists selected from the pool of candidates, which were all revealed by the studio on Twitter and YouTube.
The hostess minigame will apparently feature the hostesses being presented "in real-life" which likely means that Like a Dragon Gaiden will present some of the conversations with them in live-action, possibly similar to Yakuza 6's net cafe minigame. Many fans are hoping that Kson ends up being a hostess that fans can chat with in the game, as many believe it would be great to see the long-time fan end up being in a series she adores so much.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.
