Developer Deck Nine is giving the remaster treatment to Life is Strange, and its prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Old fans of the story-driven title will be back to experience Max's adventure in the original, and Chloe's backstory in the prequel. With new players set to try out the decision-based gameplay for the first time as well.

Chloe's story follows the same episodic structure as Max's, so players may be curious as to how many episodes are in the prequel, and how long it takes to beat Life is Strange: Before the Storm. This guide will give a rough estimate of how long it takes to complete, and how many episodes it takes to get there.

Everyone's playstyle is different, as some may want to spend time exploring the environment and exhausting every conversation option before moving the plot along, and others might just want to mainline the story. On average, however, a playthrough of Life is Strange: Before the Storm should take around 10 hours to beat. Players who do like taking their time exploring and searching for collectibles could take over 15 hours to complete the prequel.

To witness every possible outcome of the most important choices in Life is Strange and Before the Storm, fans will have to replay episodes, or play through their stories again, multiple times. There are no Achievements/Trophies linked to decisions in either title in the remastered collection, but there are plenty for completing every episode, and taking optional photos and finding graffiti.

There are three episodes in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, with each episode taking approximately three hours to complete. There is also a bonus episode that takes around an hour to complete that ties the prequel and the original together. At the end of every episode in the remastered collection (except the bonus episode), players get to see their small and big decisions in Life is Strange, along with the percentage of other players that made the same choice. This can be filtered globally, or just between friends.

Thankfully, fans don't have to wait months between episodes anymore, as they did during 2017 when the prequel was initially released. All episodes of Before the Storm are included in the Life is Strange Remastered Collection, along with the original game.

Those who played Life is Strange: True Colors, will recognize Steph Gingrich in Before the Storm. Steph is one of the few obvious connections made between entries in the anthology series, although she plays a much larger role in True Colors than in Before the Storm.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection launches on February 1, 2022, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a Switch version releasing later in 2022.
