Korean studio and publisher Neowiz has released a new official launch window trailer for Lies of P. The trailer follows a recently revealed Lies of P trailer showing Pinocchio battling some unsettling Victorian horrors.

With a late 1800s style setting, along with Steelrising and Thymesia, Lies of P looks to take more inspiration from Bloodborne rather than Dark Souls. While the Belle Epoque era was a period characterized by optimism, peace, and economic prosperity, as well as technological, scientific, and cultural innovations, Lies of P looks to inverse these and represent “a collapsed city bereft of prosperity.” After much waiting, Neowiz has finally given fans a launch window for the action Soulslike game set in a cruel, dark Belle Epoque world. Lies of P was first announced in 2021, and has kept fans intrigued ever since.

The launch window trailer does well to reinforce the tone and plot by showing a gruesome monster come to life accompanied by a voice-over from what seems to be the villain of the story. The trailer closes out by revealing the release window of August 2023, with a prompt to wishlist the game on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lies of P is also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, so Game Pass players will have a great opportunity to play right away.

Even with Thymesia and Steelrising already available to play, Lies of P continues to hold the spotlight, and is expected to be the closest experience to Bloodborne. Lies of P being compared to Bloodborne is a double-edged sword; while it means that Neowiz will be able to make a name for itself, there is a lot to live up to. When Bloodborne released, FromSoftware already had twenty years of experience behind it, not to mention that FromSoftware had created the Soulslike genre in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Neowiz, however, has more experience in smaller projects and poker games.

Any doubts about what the Korean studio can deliver seem to have been quelled, however, in the various trailers and gameplay, including the recent stunning Lies of P 8K gameplay footage. Even with Neowiz’s other projects being on a much smaller scale, it has published quite a few titles with generally favorable reviews, with some hidden gems in the stylish 2D titles Metal Unit and 8 Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure as well as the more well-known title Skul: The Hero Slayer. With the August release date, fans won’t need to wait too much longer to see if Lies of P holds up to expectations.

Lies of P is scheduled to release in August 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
