The earliest hours of Lies of P are downright punishing. Not only are players thrown directly into the action, forced to contend with some strong enemies, but they'll likely perish in only a few hits and don't have much healing to keep them alive. Making it past the first mini-boss, as well as the first major boss, can be quite the challenge. Thankfully, players can mitigate some of this difficulty by leveling P up and putting Ergo into certain stats to better their chances of surviving enemies and dishing out damage.

How To Level Up In Lies Of P

When players first begin their adventure, they'll be awoken by a mysterious voice and taught how to use Stargazers (which act as special points to refill health and other items). At the first few Stargazers, players will be assisted by the mysterious voice and given the opportunity to level up. Leveling up is done by putting specific amounts of Ergo into attribute points. Players are free to choose whatever attribute they wish to apply points to, but it's important to note that each added attribute point will up the amount of Ergo needed for the next point. This means, the more players level up, the more it will eventually cost them to level up in the future.

Once players defeat the first major boss and arrive at Hotel Krat, they will meet the mysterious voice in the form of Sophia. This mysterious woman then takes over as the Level Up NPC and players will need to return to Hotel Krat and speak to her each time they plan to level up. This can be a bit of a nuisance at times, but players will not be able to use Stargazers to level up during this portion of the game. To help with fast traveling, players are given access to a special item called the Moonphase Pocket Watch, which will let them return to Hotel Krat no matter where they are.

Eventually, players will reach a point in the storyline in which they will be given the opportunity to level up once more using any Stargazer. It's also important to note that once players commit to placing points into a specific attribute and successfully "level up," they won't be able to change those attribute points during a future level up. This means players cannot take points from one attribute and fuse them into another. Thankfully, it is possible to respec, reset all levels and refund any used Ergo for players to reallocate their points as they see fit, but players will not unlock this ability until much later in their journey (Area VII).
