Combat is front and center in Lies of P. Players won't be able to progress through certain areas without dealing with an array of imposing enemies. Although the story of Krat and its inhabitants is pretty enthralling in its own right, combat is the lifeblood of this incredibly difficult Soulslike experience. Because of this, players are going to want to find a weapon that suits their playstyle. There are multiple weapon types to find sprinkled throughout Krat and players will have a lot of options to help balance between speedier strikes and heavy-handed hits.
But Lies of P stands out from other Soulslike games with its unique weapon "crafting" system. As players find new weapons, they'll be able to swap heads and handles to create their own Frankenstein-style weapon. Here's how to change weapon blades and handles in Lies of P.
How To Change Weapon Handles And Blades In Lies Of P
Players won't be able to create their own weapons from the get-go. Unfortunately, they'll need to make it through a series of combat encounters and even deal with a couple of bosses before they unlock the ability to create their own unique weapons. Once players make it through the semi-lengthy opening areas in Lies of P, they'll reach an area called Hotel Krat. This spot acts as the Hub World for the game and some of the most pertinent NPCs will show up here along the way.
One NPC, a girl named Eugenie, sits in one of the alcoves of Hotel Krat, just off the main Stargazer in the lobby, across from the front desk. Once players unlock the hotel itself, they can interact with this NPC, who acts as the weaponsmith and upgrade station for the weapons that players find during their journey. Although players will need to return to Eugenie to add special modifiers to their handles and upgrade weapons, they can actually begin crafting weapons from any Stargazer.
What Does Changing Weapon Handles And Blades Do?
Each weapon blade comes complete with its own unique weight stats, lengths, and special abilities that can be activated by using Fable Arts. Handles have their own unique Fable Arts as well and also have graded stat attributes that correlate to Motivity, Technique, and Advance. The higher a particular grade (A - D), the better the bonus players will receive from the handle. By switching and swapping weapon blades and handles, players can create unique weapon combinations of varying weights that will not only adhere to their chosen attributes but will also give them access to Fable Art combinations. Certain handles and blades will also affect how a weapon swings or how much reach it has.
What Does Altering Handles Do?
Eugenie provides players with the option to Alter Handles on their custom weapons. In order to alter the handle on a given weapon, players will first need to get their hands on a specific crank that coincides with the attribute they are looking to attune to. For example, using a Motivity Crank on a weapon handle will attune it to Motivity, giving it a bonus letter grade towards the stat. Players should be careful though, as altering handles can also cause certain stats to decrease in letter grade. Thankfully, players will be able to see how the letter grades will be affected during the handle alteration and make an informed decision for what type of crank they want to add.
Can You Change Boss Weapons?
As players progress deeper into Lies of P, they will begin to unlock special Rare Ergo for defeating certain bosses. These Rare Ergo can be traded to a special Treasure Hunter named Alidoro once players come in contact with him for the first time. The weapons that players can obtain from these Rare Ergo are completely unique, featuring incredibly strong Fable Arts attacks and usually have inflated stats. As a product, they take special components to upgrade. Unfortunately, players will not be able to dismantle or customize these weapons in any way.
