The Scrapped Watchman is the second major puppet boss in Lies of P, and it can be a real challenge for fresh players who are still getting used to the game. While it isn't terribly difficult, it can throw players off with its wild swings and electrifying moves.
This Lies of P boss serves as one of the earliest tests of strength and skill in the campaign. It teaches the importance of quick decision-making and perfect blocking while giving players a taste of just how difficult the game can be later on. Here are a few tips on how to beat this boss.
Scrapped Watchman Boss Fight Guide
The Scrapped Watchman's attacks are fast but very telegraphed. Players will need to memorize the timing on its swings if they want to perfectly block all of them. Alternatively, dodging to the sides and following up with a quick attack works just as well. Any of Lies of P's available weapons at this point are viable against the Watchman, though players may want to steer clear of the Electric Coil since this boss also deals electric damage.
Among all the boss' attacks, the easiest ones to perfectly block are its smash attacks — specifically, the ones where it winds its arms up several times before delivering an overhead slam. Players who are having difficulty blocking the Watchman's quicker swipes should dodge those instead and focus on blocking the slam attacks.
If there's anything in this fight that players need to master, it's the timing of the Watchman's five-hit combo attack during the first phase. Perfectly blocking all of its attacks will greatly build up the boss' stagger bar, opening the Watchman up for powerful Fatal Attacks and a fully-charged heavy attack directly after.
Once the boss reaches half health, it'll unleash an electric discharge and some of its attacks will start leaving patches of lightning on the ground that detonate after a short time. Pay attention to those marks and quickly dodge as soon as they appear, even if the attack that spawned it was perfectly blocked. The Scrapped Watchman will also have a new set of moves, including a grab attack that should be avoided at all costs.
Make sure to use the limited number of Moonstones found in the previous areas to upgrade a weapon to at least +2. This will hopefully make the fight against the Watchman slightly easier.
The easiest way to beat the Scrapped Watchman is to spend a Star Fragment and summon a Specter from the basin right before the boss arena. This makes the fight go from challenging to trivial since the Specter can attract the boss' attention while the player attacks from behind. The Specter has limited health, however, and it's likely that it will die in the second phase.
Defeating the Scrapped Watchman rewards players with a few new items, with the most notable ones being the Core (enhances P-Organs) and the Overcharged Storage Battery (unlocks the Fulminis Legion Arm).
