Lemnis Gate, the turn-based multiplayer FPS bottled into a 25-second time loop was announced in August 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Now, it has been announced that Lemnis Gate is coming to the new generation of consoles as well.

Lemnis Gate is an innovative new multiplayer FPS that pits players against one another in either 1v1 or 2v2 matches that play out over 5 rounds that each occur in the same 25 second time loop. To win the match, players have access to 7 different operators, each with their own loadout and abilities to try and counter their enemy's movements, attacks, and defenses.

While much is still not known about Lemnis Gate, the structure of the matches is undeniably unique and attempts to bring a fresh new blend of strategic gameplay with FPS hero-shooter gameplay from games like Overwatch to make something entirely new. The gameplay shown thus far has shown a variety of abilities for players to utilize with the heroes such as applying bubble shields to other heroes that are playing through their action from a previous round or placing turrets. The heroes also feature a variety of standard multiplayer shooter weapons like shotguns, sniper rifles, and beam weapons.

Lemnis Gate aims to use its strategic elements to allow players of all multiplayer FPS skill levels to stand a chance at victory. Information is key, with monitoring an opponent's moves during their turn and countering their efforts playing just as big of a role in a victory as being aggressive and securing kills. The balance looks to be very delicate, with players having to think ahead on every decision they make. Every mistake can be corrected in a later round and every decision has rippling effects across all of the previous rounds playing out simultaneously across the battlefield in a unique way that could help Lemnis Gate stand out from other turn-based strategy games and FPS games alike.

Even with the upcoming launches of genre juggernauts like Far Cry 6 and Halo Infinite standing to make this year stacked with great FPS titles, the unique nature of Lemnis Gate's design has a lot of potential to find its own audience. There is no way to know just how well the game will blend its genres until it launches, but hopefully, Lemnis Gate will be able to pull it all off elegantly to deliver an experience that is unlike anything else in either of its two genres.

Lemnis Gate launches this summer for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
