LEGO has had a long history in the video game industry. Beginning all the way back in the late 1990s with LEGO Island, LEGO has had a prominent presence in many gamers' lives over the last two and a bit decades. Of course, most gamers will remember LEGO's licensed games the most, with titles like LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Indiana Jones, and LEGO Star Wars still being fondly remembered today. Earlier this year, LEGO tried to capture the magic once more, releasing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which continues to expand its content even months after launch.

Released in April, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the biggest and boldest LEGO game yet, with over 300 playable characters, 27 massive open-world planets to explore, and missions based on all nine mainline Star Wars movies. Despite the abundance of content already present, fans are still desperate for more, and TT Games has obliged, bringing some more DLC to the game in November. But it isn't quite what some fans were hoping for.

In the weeks that followed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's initial launch, TT Games released a handful of DLC Character Packs, adding a slew of new playable heroes to the game. The first two DLC Character Packs launched alongside the game on its April 5, bringing characters from both The Mandalorian Season 1 and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Soon after, the Classic Character Pack was released, adding a bunch of designs based on the original LEGO Star Wars series. The Trooper Character Pack came next, bringing some new Stormtrooper variants to the game, such as Rogue One's Death Trooper and Solo's Mimban Stormtrooper.

The Star Wars spinoff Rogue One then received its own dedicated Character Pack, adding iconic characters like Jyn Erso, Director Krennic, Cassian Andor, and K-2SO to the roster. The Mandalorian Season 2 received a DLC, bringing Ashoka Tano, Bo-Katan, Boba Fett, and Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon to the game. The final DLC that came to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga soon after launch was a Bad Batch Character Pack, tying in with the Clone Wars spinoff of the same name.

In the recent Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, TT Games announced that a new wave of Character Pack DLCs were on their way to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on November 1. The first DLC pack is based on the immensely popular Clone Wars animated show, and is set to bring Clone Captain Rex to the game, along with a few other unconfirmed characters. Star Wars Rebels, another animated show, is also getting a DLC pack, likely bringing the whole of Phoenix Squadron to the game, including Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren. The new DLC wave will also include skins based on the Disney Plus Star Wars Summer Vacation special, with Darth Vader in a Hawaiian shirt being the clear standout.

The other three new DLC Character Packs are all based on the recent Disney Plus Star Wars offerings, with characters from Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Book of Boba Fett all coming to the game. Though most of the characters haven't been confirmed yet, the Inquisitor Reva is a definite inclusion, as is Obi-Wan, Andor, and Fennec Shand.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Needs More Expansive DLC

The current line-up of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC has been nice, but it hasn't really been what fans have been asking for. While new playable characters are always welcome, the DLC packs haven't been cheap, and they don't really add any substantial content to the game, especially when it shipped with over 300 characters from across the entire Star Wars saga. Instead, fans are longing for some truly expansive DLCs that add some real meat to The Skywalker Saga.

For a start, fans are desperate for some new levels. By bringing together all nine mainline Star Wars movies, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's campaign felt pretty rushed in some places. While the original trilogy's missions had decent pacing and length, the prequel's felt extremely rushed, skipping over some major set-pieces and plot points and relying too heavily on open-world exploration to pad out the runtime. Fans have wanted future DLCs to add some new levels to the game, either expanding on the mainline movies or drawing inspiration from the numerous Star Wars spin-offs. Missions based on Clone Wars, Rebels, Andor, Obi-Wan and The Mandalorian would all be very welcome in The Skywalker Saga.

On top of the missions, a handful of new open-world planets wouldn't go amiss. Lothal from Rebels, Christophsis from Clone Wars, Nevarro from The Mandalorian, and Fortress Inquisitorius from Obi-Wan would all make for some great open-world locations, with plenty of opportunities for new side missions. On the subject of side missions, fans are hoping that future Skywalker Saga DLC can add some new variation to the game's side missions, with many in the base game feeling like simple fetch quests. This is especially true for the space missions, which boil down to either shoot this thing or travel through three loading screens to shoot something else.

Some new space vehicles would also be a great addition alongside these DLC Character Packs. Andor's Luthen Rael has a very sleek ship, as do the Inquisitors from Obi-Wan. For ultimate fan-service, future LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC could even add in some characters and ships based on the Star Wars Legends universe, like the Ebon Hawk and Revan from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, or Kyle Katarn and the Moldy Crow from Jedi Knight.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
