The Indiana Jones franchise will be making its grand return soon, and fans are excited to see what the future holds. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will allegedly be the final outing for the archeologist, and MachineGames is hard at work expanding the franchise with a brand-new Indiana Jones video game. It seems like an exciting time to be a fan of the franchise, and hopefully even more content looms on the horizon. While a Disney+ show or spin-off could be interesting, more video games following the titular character sound even better.

One Indiana Jones video game that needs to happen is a LEGO Indiana Jones 3. Traveller's Tales has adapted every single Indiana Jones movie so far, and it would be a shame if Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was left out of the fun. The game could take advantage of new hardware and finally do the entire series justice. Not just the films, but the TV show and every piece of Indiana Jones content could shine through the LEGO video game series.

LEGO Indiana Jones 3 Seems like a Must

LEGO Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones has had an interesting history with Traveller's Tales LEGO games. After the success of the first two LEGO Star Wars games, the studio brought the LEGO formula to the Indiana Jones franchise for a new type of adventure. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures LEGO-fied the first three films, and it worked out well. The stories looked great in LEGO form, the gameplay was engaging, the hub world was interesting, and almost everything about it felt right. It seemed like a great treat for fans and helped show that Traveller's Tales could do so much more than just Star Wars.

After Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released, Traveller's Tales adapted it with LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. This game included the fourth movie as well as completely rebuilt levels for the first three. While it was great to see every film in LEGO form, the game itself paled in comparison to its predecessor. The hub worlds were not interesting, the levels were lackluster, it was released too close to the original, and it did not feel very faithful to the films. Every single movie ended with a giant boss battle for some reason, and everything about it just felt off.

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is often regarded as one of the better LEGO games while LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is considered one of the worst. There is a massive difference in quality, and the Indiana Jones franchise deserves better. The release of the fifth film gives Traveller's Tales the chance to right its wrongs and try again, and hopefully this time it can do the franchise justice.

A LEGO Indiana Jones 3 could feature all five films completely rebuilt to take advantage of newer hardware. It could feature multiple open-world areas themed after each film, a huge roster of characters, engaging faithful levels, and a plethora of content to explore. Traveller's Tales could also expand the game's story by including the often overlooked The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and the stories from many of the classic Indiana Jones games. It could be the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga of the Indiana Jones franchise, and it would be well worth the wait.

There is a ton of potential for a LEGO Indiana Jones 3, but there has been no confirmation that one is in development. Traveller's Tales is currently developing the next LEGO game, but no one knows what that is quite yet. It could be a LEGO Indiana Jones 3, or it could be something else entirely. Fans will just have to wait and see what the LEGO franchise's future has in store.
