  • LEGO Fortnite offers players an outlet for creativity, allowing them to build impressive structures and vehicles, such as a plane that can actually fly.
  • The LEGO Fortnite jet resembles a Boeing 747, has a completed interior, and can fly through the air.
  • The player community has already produced awe-inspiring projects, showcasing the limitless possibilities of the game.

LEGO Fortnite has been an impressive outlet for player creativity since it went live back in December, and one player has recently built a replica plane that can actually fly. Epic added several new game modes to Fortnite last month, including a crossover with the ever-popular LEGO brand of building toys. In contrast to Fortnite’s usual battle royale gameplay, LEGO Fortnite shifts the focus toward survival, building, and exploration within a massive sandbox that could easily be compared to Minecraft.

LEGO Fortnite has frequently enjoyed large daily player counts since its December 7 launch, and the internet is already filled with screenshots and videos of vehicles and buildings users have constructed using the game’s vast supply of virtual building blocks. These awe-inspiring projects range from spot-on LEGO replicas of the MCU’s Avengers Tower and the infamous Star Destroyers of Star Wars fame to large cities and toy helicopters that can take to the skies above the Island.

LEGO Fortnite Player Builds Incredible Castle on a Mountain

An insightful LEGO Fortnite player builds a castle on a mountain, showing how far they can push the limits of the sandbox mode.

A talented LEGO Fortnite player and Reddit user by the handle of GingerJay1991 recently took this idea a step further by building a model “LEGO 747 Jumbo Jet,” which resembles the real-life Boeing 747 plane often used for commercial flights. As shown in a video GingerJay1991 posted on r/LEGOfortnite, this jumbo-sized jet features a detailed interior with rows of seats for minifigure passengers along with a recreational and bathroom area. More impressively, it can actually fly a great distance in the air.

In the comments section of their Reddit post, GingerJay1991 explains that the LEGO 747 Jumbo Jet flies through the use of Balloons and a control switch on the top of the plane, with steering performed by slightly tipping the wings to balance it toward the left or right. Elevation can be adjusted by simply adding a LEGO Fortnite Balloon, but GingerJay1991 currently has no way to land the jet without removing the hidden Balloons inside. They say that this is fine though, as they “don’t want [the plane] near the ground anyway.”

This hasn’t stopped other LEGO Fortnite players from praising GingerJay1991 for their functional jumbo jet, with many noting that they are still struggling to put together a simple bridge while their fellow Reddit users have already mastered the art of flight. Just like the real-life building toys, LEGO Fortnite has opened the door to plenty of impressive fan creations less than a month after launch, with the only limit aside from in-game building parameters apparently being the imaginations of the players themselves. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to stunning LEGO Fortnite contraptions, and one can only wonder what the game’s already massive player base will build next.
