With the v29.40 update, the worlds of Fortnite and Star Wars have once again crossed over. The arrival of Chewbacca's trusty Wookie Bowcaster, along with the return of Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers, are sure to shake up the gameplay of Battle Royale. However, Battle Royale is not the only mode to receive new Star Wars-related content, as LEGO Fortnite has also seen a content overhaul, granting players access to a wide range of known Star Wars weapons and items.

Fortnite: Can You Still Get Darth Vader?

Darth Vader came to Fortnite a long time ago from a galaxy far, far away, but how could players get their hands on the legendary Star Wars Sith Lord?

From May 3 and onwards, LEGO Fortnite players can now dive into the Star Wars Island, taking up an alliance with the Rebels and fighting against the Empire. Of course, to repel the Empire's forces, players will need to outfit themselves with various Star Wars weapons. While E-11 Blasters and Wookie Bowcasters are all good additions to your arsenal, Lightsabers can also be obtained. Here is how to get them in LEGO Fortnite.

How to Get Lightsabers in LEGO Fortnite

Unlike most other weapons and items in LEGO Fortnite, Lightsabers cannot be crafted via a Rebel Bench. Instead, players can either earn them or find them within the world.

To earn their first Lightsaber in LEGO Fortnite, gamers will need to upgrade the Rebel Outpost to Level 6 via the Village Square.

The first requirement to reach Level 6 is to complete the 'Now THIS is Engineering' questline, which requires fans to clear the debris surrounding the Rebel Outpost (with both an Axe and a Pickaxe) and then build a Rebel Workshop on the cleared area. Here are the materials required to build a Rebel Workshop:

  • 81 Wood
  • 1 Plank
  • 6 Plastoid

Once players have built the Rebel Workshop, they will then need to fulfill two more requirements before heading to the Village Square to upgrade their Rebel Outpost. These requirements are as follows:

  • Craft a Rebel Workbench with 5 Wood and 8 Plastoid
  • Reach Village Comfort Level 6 by placing buildings and decorations around the Outpost

Be sure to place the Rebel Workbench under shelter, for placing it out in the open will render it unusable if it rains.

Once all of these tasks have been completed, you will be able to finally upgrade your Rebel Outpost by heading to the Village Square at the Outpost's center. Next, speak to Captain Bravara. Upon doing so, she will offer you a Blue Lightsaber for all your hard work.

How to Find a Lightsaber

The second way to acquire a Lightsaber in LEGO Fortnite is by finding one at the very end of an Imperial Bunker.

Imperial Bunkers can be located through the use of Macrobinoculars, but cannot be entered until you have upgraded your Rebel Outpost to Level 6 and spoken to Captain Bravara afterwards.

Imperial Bunker's function much like regular LEGO Fortnite caves and can be accessed via a single entrance. Of course, reaching the end of the bunker is no easy feat, as players will need to progress through different sections of the bunker, eliminating all Stormtroopers within each section before progressing to the next.

Once gamers have cleared an Imperial Bunker and made it to the end, they should find an Imperial Chest just before the bunker exit. The Imperial Chest will grant fans a Red Lightsaber in LEGO Fortnite, along with some other random loot items as well.

How to Use Lightsabers

In LEGO Fortnite, Lightsabers function rather similarly to other melee weapons, such as Swords and Daggers, meaning that players will need to be close to their enemies to deal damage. They can also be used to destroy structures relatively easily but will erase any potential resources the harvested structure might produce.

Unlike other weapons, it will not break once players have exhausted its durability. Instead, the Lightsaber will go into a 10-minute cooldown, replenishing its charge before it can be used for combat again.
