LEGO Fortnite is an immersive open-world survival game where players can play as LEGO Minifigs versions of their favorite characters and have the freedom to build their dream village. The goal is to gather resources and create a thriving settlement out in the wilderness – from scratch.

Whether they’re playing solo or with friends, players can add life to their village by inviting multiple Fortnite NPCs to come and live with them. The presence of villagers brings a unique charm to the blocky landscapes and opens up a door to new opportunities. Those who want to make their LEGO adventures easier can learn how to recruit villagers and assign them extra tasks using this guide.

How to Befriend a Villager

Lego Fortnite: multiple characters

Before they can start recruiting people, players need to build a Village Square using 10 Granite and 10 Wood. As time passes, many NPCs will come over and have a look around the village. If the village has enough space and a free bed, these NPCs often ask if they can stay the night. A bed can be built using 10 pieces of Wood.

Once the village has been upgraded to Level one, players can invite the NPCs to live in their village by choosing the “Live in my village!” dialogue option. The NPC will either accept their invitation or turn it down by explaining why. As players upgrade their village, the number of villagers they can befriend increases. At Level 10, players can invite five Villagers to live with them.

Some Fortnite characters, such as Meowscles, will only visit villages with more furniture and decor. Another NPC, Peely only moves into villages with higher levels. Recruited villagers can randomly give players gifts, including rare crafting recipes.

How to Assign Jobs to Villagers

Once the NPCs have moved in, they will hang around the village and wait for you to assign them a job. Villagers can help players with basic chores, such as collecting resources. These jobs ensure that the village is properly maintained while players are out in the world.

  • Players can assign jobs to villagers once they have upgraded the village to at least Level two.
  • To do so, simply interact with the villager and select the “Let’s Talk Jobs” dialogue option.

As players keep upgrading their village, they unlock all job types, mentioned below.

Village LevelJob typeDescription
Level 1ExplorationThis job allows players to bring one villager along with them as they explore new biomes.
Level 2Resource JobsThis job tasks a villager with collecting nearby resources or refining wood and stone.
Level 4Food JobsThese jobs include extracting seeds, planting new crops, or cooking food at the grill or oven.
Level 6Refining JobsRefining jobs include smelting metal, collecting gems, or creating advanced textiles.

Villagers can only be assigned one task per job. For example, if players choose ‘Food Jobs’ and task a villager to ‘Cook Food’, the NPC will only focus on cooking food and will not gather seeds or plant crops.

How to Make a Villager Follow You

The best part of having villagers is that you can ask them to accompany you on your adventures in LEGO Fortnite. Players can ask a villager to follow them by selecting the ‘Let’s Explore!’ option when assigning a job. The Exploration job automatically unlocks when players build the first Village Square.

Before setting out on their journey, players can equip their chosen villager with essential tools and weapons, such as a pickaxe, forest axe, or sword. These tools will enable the villagers to help players gather resources, harvest plants, and even fight off enemies.

Each villager has their own specialty, such as building, crafting, cooking, treasure hunting, etc. Players should carefully consider the skills of their villagers when choosing who to bring along.

If they plan on venturing into caves, players can equip the villager with a Torch to light the way while they can focus on other things.

How to Remove a Villager from Your Village

If players no longer like a certain villager or simply want to make room for someone much cooler, they can easily get rid of them. To remove a villager, all players have to do is destroy their designated bed. Once this is done, they need to speak to the villager again. The NPC informs players that they’ll be leaving the village in a certain number of days.

Players can also move their favorite villager to a cozy new spot by reassigning their bed. To do so, they need to interact with a new, unassigned bed and allocate it to the villager.
