Highlights

  • LEGO Fortnite swaps "Dead Game" skin for "Good Game" to protect young players from negative messaging.
  • Skin changes are part of ongoing efforts to shield LEGO Fortnite's younger audience from harmful content.
  • Despite player drop-off, LEGO Fortnite's recent update has led to a rebound in concurrent users.

Fortnite's "Dead Game" skin has been replaced with a "Good Game" skin when used in LEGO Fortnite. Although Epic Games did not specify a reason for the change, it is likely due to efforts that aim to protect LEGO Fortnite's younger players.

LEGO Fortnite skins have been tweaked in the past by having items like guns or bullets removed from their non-Battle Royale versions. The most apparent reason for this strategy is to shield LEGO Fortnite's player base, which presumably skews much younger than Fortnite's Battle Royale fan base; the spin-off game features a LEGO-inspired art style and much less emphasis on PvP combat. Although LEGO Fortnite has struggled to maintain the huge player numbers it saw at launch, it has recently rebounded thanks to a new update.

Join the ranks of legendary Mandalorians with Rocket Racing's newest vehicle, the Beskar Car, mixing the best of Fortnite x Star Wars with 4 wheels.

Following Fortnite's Star Wars update, Twitter user and Fortnite leaker Hypex pointed out that the Dead Game skin's LEGO version had been modified to replace the word "dead" on the skin's shirt. Other than that change, the LEGO skin is mostly the same and tries to recreate its Battle Royale appearance like other Fortnite skins. LEGO Fortnite currently sports over 128,000 concurrent users thanks to the new update, but last month in April, the game averaged about 55,000 users, a pretty low number for Fortnite's massive overall player base.

Fortnite Censors Veronika, a.k.a. Dead Game, Skin For LEGO Fortnite

Fortnite's Dead Game skin, which is called Veronika in-game, was first introduced in 2022 as part of the Checkered Past Pack. The skin poked fun at the "dead game" meme that had become popular in the years leading up to 2022 when some frustrated Fortnite fans described the game as such. Of course, Fortnite has featured a gigantic player base for much of its lifespan, so its developers weren't afraid to take lighthearted jabs at the meme.

Whether LEGO Fortnite players own the censored Veronika skin or not, they can now try out the game's new Star Wars-themed content. Fortnite's newest collaboration with the legendary franchise brought new features to many of Fortnite's modes, but LEGO Fortnite received the bulk of it. This includes LEGO Fortnite's Rebel Adventure Pass, the buildable Rebel Village, Imperial Camps, new items, and more.

Fortnite's Battle Royale mode received some new content as well, including Star Wars quests and a Chewbacca skin that can be unlocked by purchasing the premium track of LEGO Fortnite's pass. The update also added new items to Battle Royale like a Wookiee Bowcaster, Darth Vader's Lightsaber, and the E-11 Blaster.
