LEGO 2K Drive's Open World and Game Modes

LEGO 2K Drive Bridge

LEGO 2K Drive's massive open world is a land known as Bricklandia, where players will race around various distinct biomes. The lush Turbo Acres, the desert land of Big Butte County, the beaches of Prospecto Valley, and the spooky region of Hauntsborough each have their own concentration of road, off-road, and water areas to drive on.

LEGO 2K Drive's story mode supports both single player and local co-op. The story mode sees the player competing against an eccentric cast of characters in several high-stakes races across Bricklandia in hopes of achieving the esteemed Sky Cup Trophy.

Alongside the main story, LEGO 2K Drive's game modes are plentiful. There is the standard Race mode, where players pick a course to ride on and determine the general rules for the race. Abilities can be toggled on or off for these races. There’s also the Cup Series mode, in which players race through several tracks, scoring points depending on where they finish in each race. The winner of the Cup Series races is determined by who earns the most points by the end of all races put together.

Lastly, there are a couple of mini-games to play in LEGO 2K Drive that do away with the racing concept and give players interesting new ways to use their vehicles. There’s Defend mini-games where players will fend off hordes of enemies, and Rescue mini-games where players use their vehicles to rescue civilians from enemies around the map.

LEGO 2K Drive Multiplayer

Players will be able to enjoy LEGO 2K Drive alone or with a group of friends. Local split-screen co-op is available for the Story Mode, Cup Series, and Race Mode. For players who enjoy multiplayer LEGO games, there is the Play With Friends Mode. This mode includes everything available for local multiplayer (minus Story Mode) along with the Shared World mode, which is a sort of free play mode that allows up to six friends to drive around Bricklandia participating in various activities.

Additionally, players can play online with anyone around the world in the Play With Everyone mode, which includes the Cup Series and Race Modes. For anyone looking for new crossplay games to play, LEGO 2K Drive has them covered in its Play With Friends Mode and Play With Everyone Mode, which both support crossplay between all the game's platforms except Nintendo Switch.

Customization and Car Features in LEGO 2K Drive

LEGO 2K Drive Garage-1

Players can customize their rides in LEGO 2K Drive’s Garage. Customization is immensely detailed, with each individual brick able to be carefully selected and modified to make the most interesting vehicles imaginable. Vehicles have stats like Acceleration, Top Speed, and Health that can be manipulated through customization. The more bricks are loaded onto a vehicle, the heavier that vehicle will be. Each car that a player creates will be saved and displayed in the Showroom.

As Bricklandia covers a variety of different land types, the vehicles that these characters drive have to be able to travel on it all. The cars in LEGO 2K Drive all have transforming abilities that allow them to drive easily on the street, off-road, and on the water. These cars can also jump, drift, boost, and perform various quick-turns. Taking a page out of the book of Mario Kart, LEGO 2K Drive’s races will include a variety of power-ups for racers to take advantage of in order to gain the lead and sabotage their opponents.

LEGO 2K Drive will be available on May 19, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
