10 Weakest Zelda Bosses, Ranked

These Zelda franchise bosses hardly put up much of a fight!

Released in 2006 on different consoles, in particular as one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Wii, Twilight Princess was a challenging version of a Zelda tale with plenty of great memories attached to it for gamers. In particular, the variety of exciting and challenging boss fights that players come up against throughout this Legend of Zelda entry makes for some fantastic encounters. It can be hard to tell which of the bosses that players come up against is the most difficult due to the players hitting them at different levels. They can more easily be judged as the best due to mechanics and aesthetics, as well as uniqueness.

7 Fyrus

One of the earliest boss fights in Twilight Princess, Fyrus is fought after being released at the very end of the Goron Mines. This was a fun early sequence in the game which led to this boss fight against a being enclosed in flames, making for one of the most interesting sections of the first act in Twilight Princess. The Goron Mines were a fun part of the game and the story of how the Elder of the Gorons went into the mountains and became this twisted creature made for a fun part of the story and lore around the world of Twilight Princess.

The boss fight with Fyrus itself is a fairly unique one. The large being cloaked in flames feels like a commonplace enough boss idea, but his attacks are interesting, based on being powerful and huge, while Link has to rely much more on his bow skills as he is unable to get close to Fyrus. The boss fight is also unusual for only having one phase, whereas every other major fight in Twilight Princess has at least two.

6 Dark Beast Ganon

Ganondorf and Dark Beast Ganon as they appear in Twilight Princess

There has been a huge variety of Ganon boss fights throughout the Legend of Zelda franchise, including multiple ones in Twilight Princess itself. However, Dark Beast Ganon is a reasonably forgettable entry in the long history of Link vs. Ganon sequences, as the middle boss fight entry in the final three in the finale of the game, makes it the most forgettable of this sequence despite having quite an interesting build. Both the design of Dark Beast Ganon and the mechanics of this fight make for an interesting sequence.

Every Version Of Ganon From The Legend Of Zelda Series, Ranked

There have been plenty of versions of Ganon found throughout the Legend of Zelda franchise. Here's how they all stack up.

Dark Beast Ganon is a towering, black-furred creature with a red mane, and he has to be knocked over to continue the battle. To do this, players can shoot his gem or transform Link into a wolf and grab the gem with Midna, the amazing sidekick. Players have to beware of Dark Beast Ganon attempting to sneak attack using portals as the fight continues, but besides that, this is a fun part of the final sequence in Twilight Princess without being one of the very top-tier boss battles in the game.

5 Blizzeta

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Boss Yeta Transforming into Blizzeta

It isn’t uncommon for Legend of Zelda fans to see a temple or sequence that focuses on ice, having had several of these appear in different games across the years. However, one of the most fascinatingly fun designs for a boss fight did appear in the Twilight Princess take on an area like this, namely the Snowpeak Ruins that must be tackled mid-game.

Blizzeta is the boss made up of Yeta, infected by a piece of the twilight shard, and her boss battle is in one of the most beautifully designed parts of the game. The boss battle with Blizzeta focuses on the ball and chain attacks by Link, one of the game's best mechanics, and a great deal of movement to avoid the spinning boss, who is terrifying and quick despite her size.

4 Puppet Zelda

One of the most terrifying ideas ever enacted in a Legend of Zelda game is the idea that Princess Zelda, the force of good that Link is often working to save or protect, could turn against Link, and he would be forced to fight her. That finally came true in the first of three boss fights that concluded Twilight Princess.

Legend Of Zelda: 8 Most Frustrating Dungeons, Ranked

Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda has produced some of gaming's greatest dungeons, along with a few frustrating ones.

Upon entering Hyrule Castle, Ganondorf takes over Zelda’s body, possessing her, and Link is forced to fight her before moving on to the other versions of Ganon. This “puppet” version of Zelda is terrifying, and one of her three moves is to impale Link with her sword. This makes for a satisfying, frightening beginning section to the finale of the game, giving players everything that they’ve ever feared about Princess Zelda.

3 Ganondorf

The final section of the Hyrule Castle boss fights that concludes the game is Ganondorf himself, in the form that players have come to expect from him. This great Zelda game deserved to be wrapped up with one last truly memorable and great boss fight, and this encounter with Ganondorf where Link defeats him at last makes it all worthwhile.

With so many huge creatures and various types of battles throughout Twilight Princess, the most satisfying thing that could be done was to give players a simple, elegant, and extremely difficult swordfight against Ganon to end the game. This made for one of the most classically styled boss fights in Zelda history, as well as one of the absolute best.

2 Stallord

One of the most unique ideas for a boss fight found in any Legend of Zelda game throughout history, Stallord is an undead creature that rises from the center of a sinkhole to tackle Link after Arbiter’s Grounds, making him the fourth main boss of the Twilight Princess storyline.

Stallord makes for a fascinating boss fight. He throws down enemies in the path of Link, who must battle from atop his spinner, a great mechanic that makes for a challenging boss fight while being one of the most entertainingly well-designed. Stallord has gone down in history as a hugely fun piece of the Zelda franchise.

1 Zant

Zant from Twilight Princess

Zant is the strangest, probably the hardest, and definitely the best of any Twilight Princess boss fight. While there is a great variety of unique challenges involving plenty of mechanics that Link has to face off with, Zant is at the pinnacle of the game.

Zant is the last boss that must be faced before Link can travel to Hyrule Castle, and his challenge is presented in the form of every mechanic from previous boss fights returning. The longest boss battle, of an already long game for the franchise, and one that forces players to use every skill they’ve learned from throughout Twilight Princess, Zant presents the most complete challenge and the best experience available at any time in this wonderful Legend of Zelda entry.
