One of the most well-remembered games from Nintendo's catalogue is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This entry of the franchise is considered to be one of Nintendo's darkest, with grittier graphics, disturbing themes, and even some more mature moments outside the franchise's norm. It still remains a fan-favorite game years after its release thanks to iconic moments, the wolf transformation, and Link's companion Midna. It is no surprise that all of these characteristics would make it perfect for a manga adaptation.

The Legend of Zelda series has received manga retellings before, most of them being penned by a duo of Japanese artists known as Akira Himekawa. Some of the manga adapted by them include games like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Phantom Hourglass and Four Swords, just to name a few. However, after many completed adaptations of other games from the series, the duo began a Twilight Princess adaptation, starting Japanese serialization in 2016. This manga then received an English localization by Viz the following year.

With a serialized magazine format for an older demographic, this manga adaptation of Twilight Princess has been running for over five years, featuring ten currently released manga volumes as opposed to the other Zelda manga receiving only one or two. In 2020, the manga had entered its final arc, with the tenth volume of the manga being the climax released earlier this year. Himekawa has announced that the end of this long-running adaptation is near.

The tweet roughly reads that the final draft for the next chapter of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been submitted, and that the final manuscript is up next. This means that the next chapter of the manga will be the very last one of this series. This finale will most likely be adapting the last moments of the game, from the epic final battle with Ganondorf to the iconic shot of his defeat, along with the reveal of Midna's true form as she returns to the Twilight Realm.

The adaptation of Twilight Princess has been well-received, with additions that weren't in the game such as Link's deeper characterization and Midna's backstory being explored further. There isn't a release date for this final volume of Twilight Princess yet, but it's likely to release sometime in 2022, with its English localization to follow suit.
