Combat has always been fun in any Zelda game, but it's particularly amusing when playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, as this entry to the series truly takes combat versatility to the next level. When taking down an enemy, players won't always have to resort to the weapons in their inventory. Quite often, they'll find themselves taking advantage of the environment that surrounds them.

In Breath of the Wild, there are various ways for players to spare their weapons. In this game, it's actually particularly important given that some weapons have low durability or may be too rare to waste in a certain situation. This guide will help gamers keep their weapons intact by showing them other methods of taking down enemies.

6 Use Boulders

When an enemy camp is next to a steep incline or a cliff, it's not uncommon for a couple of boulders to be right on top. The player can use this to their advantage by making Link climb up and push the boulders off the cliff. If there are any bomb barrels at the bottom, it'll be even easier to get rid of the enemies since the boulder will make them explode on impact. The weaker enemies will perish right away, and the strongest ones will be significantly damaged and much easier to take down.

5 Activate Urbosa's Fury

Gamers will gain access to Urbosa's Fury after they've defeated Thunderblight Ganon inside Divine Beast Vah Naboris. This is arguably the hardest Blight Ganon in Breath of the Wild, but it also rewards the player with the strongest offensive ability in the game.

In order to perform Urbosa's Fury, Link will have to charge a Spin Attack with his weapon for a couple of seconds. Then, once it's ready, an electrical charge animation will play on the screen before the strike. Urbosa's Fury will deal an incredible amount of electrical damage to any enemy nearby and it will immediately take down medium-difficulty enemies; those that survive will drop their weapons and remain stunned for a short period of time.

4 Check For Lamps Inside Skull Camps

One of the many camp layouts in Breath of the Wild is the Skull Camp; enemies will often set up camp inside large rock structures that resemble a skull. Although some of them might have guards on wooden platforms equipped with bows and arrows, many of the enemies will be inside, probably sleeping or enjoying a campfire.

It's possible to sneak a peek inside the skull as it is open where its mouth, eyes, and nose are. These Skull Camps generally have explosive barrels inside and they also tend to have lamps hanging from the ceiling by a flimsy rope. Link can get a good angle from farther away by using Revali's Gale or by climbing onto a tree or a nearby rock, and then he can shoot an arrow at the rope to break it and cause the entire encampment to go up in flames. Alternatively, he can even climb up the skull itself, but this is risky as he can be damaged by the explosion as well.

Wooden enemy weapons that catch fire will be more dangerous if the enemies get to them, and they will also lose a significant amount of durability the longer they're on fire.

3 Remote Bombs Are Unlimited And Free

Out of all Rune abilities in Breath of the Wild, remote bombs are the ones that will help the most when players find themselves in a tricky situation with no way out. Although they're not overpowered, it's easy to spam bombs in the enemy's direction - especially if gamers alternate between the circular bomb and the cube-shaped bomb once they enter the cooldown period.

During the Trial of the Sword, Link will be low on weapons, and since the enemies on the first couple of floors are quite weak, it's easy to take them down with a couple of bombs in order to spare the weapons in the inventory.

2 Check For Metallic Objects Nearby

The Magnesis Rune isn't only useful when it comes to puzzle-solving inside shrines. It can actually be used to fight enemies. It's not uncommon for Link to find metallic boxes or boulders near an enemy camp, and they're not there by coincidence. The game wants players to use them to their advantage so they can fight without having to resort to the best weapons in their inventory.

The player can activate Magnesis and use it on these objects. Thanks to the laws of physics, Link can swing metallic objects at high speed to hit his enemies for a great deal of damage, or he can even drop them on top of them while keeping his distance.

1 Sneakstrike Enemies Whenever Possible

It may come as a surprise to many gamers, but sneakstrike is actually one of the strongest attacks in Breath of the Wild. Whenever an enemy is asleep or distracted, Link can sneak up on them and hit them while they're unaware.

To do this, the player must be very careful and do it as stealthily as possible. If they're successful, the hit will deal eight times the amount of damage it would usually inflict. So, even though it uses up some of a weapon's durability, the player is actually getting eight times the weapon's power in a single hit.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
