The new announcements just keep rolling in from Riot Games. Fresh off the start of League of Legends' tenth season, different teams at Riot have been unveiling their 2020 plans for gameplay, lore, and even Teamfight Tactics. Following the trend, Ryan "Reav3" Mireles, the Lead Producer on the Champions team, discussed what's coming for champions during 2020 in the newest video.

To start, Reav3 announced that Sett, the Boss, would be playable as of today. Sett is a half-Vastayan juggernaut hailing from Ionia who stores damage taken as energy before unleashing it back. Sett can also grab an opponent with his ultimate before KOing them out of nowhere with a slam into the enemy team. Furthermore, League of Legends players who earned Sett's Calling Card by getting enough first bloods in the past month can now open the card to get Sett for free.

For the future, the League of Legends champions teased to be coming after Sett are Fiddlesticks and Volibear, updates that players voted for last year. First, Fiddlesticks will have a revamped kit centered more around mechanical and psychological fear to drive home its horror thematic. Second, Volibear has received an upgraded appearance befitting his savage nature as a bear god of thunder. However, this does stray from the eldritch horror concept of Volibear teased in more recent lore, so the demonic design will be finalized in a skin given to all players who own Volibear or purchase him during the patch that his update goes out before it becomes a regular skin in the store. On that note, Riot is once again planning to let players decide the next champion to be updated in 2021.

Once Fiddlesticks and Volibear are updated, Reav3 says the team will shift to primarily new champions for the rest of 2020. Previous champions like Kai'Sa and Senna have been the result of taking a known character in lore and bringing them to life in-game, to great success. As a result, another one of these characters is on the way, accompanied by lore videos to drive the story forward. Furthermore, champion releases will continue to be tied into events for 2020 such as Lunar Revel, True Damage, and Night vs Dawn to create bigger and more memorable moments for players. Finally, Reav3 teased two future champions that will be part of a big summer event: "blossom with a new Jungler to fawn over" and "a masked Champion that refuses to die."

From these details, Riot Games is definitely looking to make 2020 the most memorable year of releases so far. With the arrivals of some new characters or the return of some old names, all players are sure to find a champion they will click with.

In the end, most players can't wait for these releases, but some fans won't want to try these new champions out. Fear not, because everyone can still enjoy plenty of other League content and Riot projects such as the Legends of Runeterra card game coming out in 2020.
