Cosplay is just one of the many ways fans can share their love for a video game series, ranging in depth from simple outfits to elaborate costumes. While this enthusiasm is always great to see, some fans go above and beyond to recreate aspects of a game in the real world. One pair of The Last of Us 2 fans has done just that with a Clicker cosplay.

The Clicker outfit comes from cosplayer Gull Sheer and photographer Alon Levin, who managed to capture the cosplay in action. It's a striking depiction of the cordyceps-infected creature, with the pose perfectly capturing what it's like to face one while playing through The Last of Us games. In fact, the cosplay is so impressive that it caught the attention of the series' developer, Naughty Dog, on Twitter.

The developer's account commented that it had to do a "double-take" to realize that this image was a cosplay, and it's fair to say many fans likely had to do the same. The photo has been setup perfectly, resembling something captured with The Last of Us 2's photo mode. Naughty Dog went on to put out a call for more cosplays, for any fans that want to try and have their own work featured.

The Last of Us fans have been on a roll with artwork recently. Just the other day, a fan created a stunning depiction of Pedro Pascal as Joel, following the actor being cast in the role for the upcoming HBO The Last of Us series. There are, of course, countless other pieces of artwork that have been made in honor of The Last of Us, from things as complex as this cosplay to pleasant in-game screenshots.

In many ways, it's a testament to PlayStation's exclusive franchises to see how impacted fans have been by the experiences. With the 2021 video game release calendar being a bit of a mystery right now, it'll be interesting to see where PlayStation's major new games land. Fans are expecting Ratchet and Clank, Horizon: Forbidden West, and more this year, with each new game being capable of spawning cosplay of this caliber.

In the meantime, fans can appreciate what Sheer and Levin have created here. It's hard to stress just how impressive the composition of this image is from top to bottom, as capturing the essence of the game so accurately, and creating such an incredible cosplay, almost certainly took hundreds of hours of work.

The Last of Us 2 is available now for PS4.
