Naughty Dog announced that it's delaying the release of The Last of Us on PC from March 3 to March 28. The action-adventure game was remade and released for the PlayStation 5 just last September, and the PC version was supposed to come out on March 3, 2023.First released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, The Last of Us follows Joel and Ellie as they travel across post-apocalyptic America. It has since expanded with a DLC titled Left Behind, which explored Ellie's backstory, a sequel titled The Last of Us Part 2, and an HBO series adaptation starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.RELATED: Nick Offerman Reveals Why He Hasn't Played The Last of UsSales for the first Last of Us game have been steadily rising since the premiere of the HBO series, and the upcoming PC version was supposed to bring the game to even more people who might want to play it for the first time. However, players have to wait longer than expected as Naughty Dog decided to delay the PC release date from March 3 to March 28. In a Twitter announcement, the developer said it wanted to ensure that The Last of Us was in the "best shape possible" as it makes its PC debut. It assured longtime fans and potential new players that they can experience Joel and Ellie's story in this new platform soon.

In the replies, many The Last of Us fans seem to understand the need for the delay, telling the Naughty Dog team that they should take all the time they need to optimize the game, while expressing their excitement to play it. One user pointed out that it was a good call to move the release date after The Last of Us' final episode airs on March 12th.

The Last of Us is almost a decade old, but its legacy is going strong with the amount of support it's getting for the recent PS5 release and the HBO show. With a rapidly growing fanbase, there might be a lot of expectations for the PC version to deliver the best quality possible, especially for first-time players.

Plus, with HBO's The Last of Us already renewed for season 2, it's also possible that Naughty Dog will port Part 2 to PC in the future as well. There's no definite update on that yet, but if the first game succeeds on the platform, the next title might follow suit.

The Last of Us Part 1 is currently available on PlayStation 5 and will be available for PC on March 28, 2023.
