The Last of Us Part 3 has not been officially announced, but considering the massive success of the first two games in the series and the hit HBO adaptation, many have assumed that a third game in Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic survival-horror series is a given.Officially, Naughty Dog's next game is a Last of Us multiplayer title, not a proper Last of Us Part 3. Not much has been shown of Naughty Dog's Last of Us multiplayer game, but it's expected to be a live service title set in San Francisco. The Naughty Dog game to follow the Last of Us multiplayer project has been rumored to be an original IP, but it seems like there's a good chance it will be The Last of Us Part 3 instead.ViewerAnon, who has accurately leaked news in the past, has doubled down on their claim that Neil Druckmann's next game is indeed The Last of Us 3, and has now gone as far as to say that "major filming" for the game will take place this year. They've also said that Last of Us protagonist Ellie is "at least as important" as in the third game as she was in the second one. This means fans can expect The Last of Us 3 to feature Ellie as the main character, though it also leaves the door open for a second protagonist to take up a decent chunk of screen time, ala Abby from The Last of Us Part 2. ViewerAnon also stressed that since it's so early in the game's development that story details could still be "tweaked" and "everything is potentially up in the air to be changed," so fans should keep that in mind.
ViewerAnon isn't the only person leaking information about The Last of Us 3. Daniel Richtman has also supposedly leaked fresh details about the game, though fans should take all these leaks with a grain of salt. According to Richtman, as reported by Eurogamer, The Last of Us 3 will feature a "Victorian house" where some survivors are living together. Specific characters mentioned in this particular report include newcomers named Lucas, Mason, Ezra, Val, and Gracis. Val is apparently the leader of the group, which puts her in conflict with Ezra, who wants to take over.
Unfortunately, Last of Us fans will likely have to wait years to find out if there's any truth to the recent claims being made about the game. Naughty Dog is working on a single-player game, and if it is The Last of Us 3 as rumored, more information should come to light a couple of years down the road or so.
