With The Last of Us 2 recently being pushed back indefinitely, fans are no doubt disappointed that they'll have to wait even longer to experience the next chapter of Ellie and Joel's story. With the first Last of Us dropping almost seven years ago, the wait has been agonizing for the thousands of players who resonated deeply with the game's dark apocalyptic tale, especially as Naughty Dog has done a great job at keeping information on the sequel's narrative to a minimum.

However, one leaker over at 4chan claims they have the full scoop on The Last of Us 2's story, delivering a number of significant - yet slightly unbelievable - plot beats from the upcoming game. Of course, potential spoilers will follow:

The leaker begins by describing the game's first act, citing that it follows Ellie and Dina falling for each other while Ellie also begins to mend her distant relationship with Joel, who has been at odds with his young companion due to his controlling nature. The leaker then claims that a religious cult called the Seraphites attack Ellie's group, killing Dina and many others in their campaign to purge the world. According to the leak, the group are deeply religious, white supremacists who believe homosexuality is a sin and supposedly kill Dina because of her relationship with Ellie.

Allegedly, this leads Ellie on a revenge mission against the cult, supposedly seeing two companions join her throughout her adventure. The first is Jesse, Dina's former boyfriend, and the second is, of course, Joel. The leaker suspiciously claims that these two characters simply die at separate points in the story, not going into any detail despite the fact Joel's death would almost certainly have significant ramifications on the narrative as a whole. The leak also claims that the woman in the mysterious second trailer for the game is Ellie's mother, who supposedly conceived the protagonist with one of the members of the cult as they are allegedly immune to the virus.

The leak itself, while definitely having ideas that are plausible from what has been shown through gameplay, is almost certainly false, with the leaker even claiming "I am the immediate family member of someone working at Naughty Dog." Not only is this the oldest and most transparently fake claim in the book, but many of the supposed plot beats seem shallowly discussed or vague. A number of Reddit users have already pointed out inaccuracies in the leak, with one claiming "This one claims Dina dies in Jackson, but it's clear she's still around for the Seattle section afterward," citing the recently leaked gameplay as proof. While it seems unlikely this leak is legit, it's interesting nonetheless.
