Naughty Dog Has Bad News for The Last of Us Fans

Naughty Dog shares some bad news for The Last of Us fandom just ahead of the perennial event celebrating its iconic post-apocalyptic series.

As discovered by Insider Gaming, Naughty Dog Lead Outside Artist Mark Pajarillo made mention of the unannounced Last of Us 2: Remastered on his LinkedIn profile, though it has since been updated to remove any mention of the game. Pajarillo's profile didn't provide any other details about what The Last of Us 2: Remastered might entail or when it could release. However, one has to assume that the game will be coming to PS5 at the very least, and a PC port shouldn't be ruled out either.

Sony brought The Last of Us to PC through The Last of Us Part 1, with the PC port of the game coming out some odd months after the PS5 version released. Sony has made it clear that it plans on bringing more of its PlayStation exclusives to PC, and so Last of Us 2 coming to PC is a matter of when, not if. While many would likely be satisfied if the PS4 version of the game was ported to PC, a remaster with improved graphics and other potential enhancements could make the game even more appealing to PC gamers.

If The Last of Us 2: Remastered does exist, and it does come to PC, then hopefully it avoids making the same mistakes as the previous game. The Last of Us Part 1 on PC launched with multiple issues that dragged the experience down for PC gamers. Post-launch updates patched things up, but it was still disappointing for many PC gamers that the game launched in a much worse state than its PS5 counterpart.

Time will tell if The Last of Us 2: Remastered is real or not, but there should be plenty more for fans of the franchise to look forward to in the years ahead. Even though The Last of Us multiplayer game is reportedly running into some serious problems, Naughty Dog is rumored to be working on The Last of Us 3, while HBO is prepping a second season of The Last of Us TV series.

The Last of Us 2: Remastered is rumored to be in development.
