  • Some gamers receive games stuck in security cases when buying online, needing creative solutions to access their purchase.
  • Recently, a fan received a copy of The Last of Us 2 game in an anti-theft case.
  • Gamers purchasing online should be cautious of receiving games that are still in security cases, as this has happened multiple times before.

A PlayStation 4 gamer recently purchased a copy of The Last of Us 2 online, and when it arrived at their house, it was still stuck in its plastic security case. The Last of Us 2 released to significant controversy in 2020, but it also earned widespread critical acclaim, won numerous awards, and is generally considered one of the best games of its generation. As one of the highest-rated games ever released for the PS4, it's no surprise that the game has left many fans anxious for more Last of Us content.

Right now, The Last of Us TV series is filming Season 2, which will cover the events depicted in The Last of Us 2 game. A Last of Us multiplayer game was in development before it was canceled, but Naughty Dog is rumored to be working on a proper Last of Us 3, at least. Those that have yet to check the series out may want to buy the first two games and see what all the fuss is about, but they may want to be careful when purchasing physical copies from online retailers.

A permadeath player learns that sometimes glitches in The Last of Us 2 can be just as deadly as any enemy they encounter.

Reddit user NoTangelo3604 learned this the hard way when they were sent a copy of The Last of Us 2 on PS4 with the game still in its anti-theft case. They claimed that the game was shipped to their house this way and asked fellow Reddit users if they knew how to open it. The comments provided all kinds of solutions to the problem, though magnets should help NoTangelo3604 get access to their game.

Last of Us 2 Game Arrived Still in Anti-Theft Case

While this may seem like a bizarre situation, it's far from the first time something like this has happened to someone buying a game off the internet. Just last month, another Reddit user purchased a $5 copy of Riders Republic from Walmart that arrived still in its security case, not unlike what happened with NoTangelo3604's copy of The Last of Us 2. Similar occurrences have happened over the years, so gamers buying games online should keep that in mind.

In the meantime, those wanting to experience an even better version of The Last of Us 2 will want to opt for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered released earlier this year to rave reviews, with the new version of the game utilizing the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller and giving fans a brand-new roguelike mode to master.
