Last Epoch: Which Faction is Better?

Last Epoch multiple players

There are two factions that offer different advantages for farming items, so they will be indispensable in the endgame. You can join a faction in the ninth chapter, when you reach the city of Maj'elka and take the Merchants and Fortune Tellers quest. The NPC Zerrick will tell you more about each of them, so you'll have a basic overview of the factions before you join one. Still, this is superficial information, so let's talk about the Merchant's Guild and Circles of Fortune in more detail so that you can find your favorite.

The Merchant’s Guild

The Merchant's Guild is a faction for more experienced players who want to move away from the usual ARPG genre and diversify the gameplay with trading. In addition to the usual farming of items for killing enemies, you can buy and sell equipment at the Bazaar, a local auction house. Here you will find many stalls, each offering different items and equipment, which you can even filter by priority if necessary. As you have guessed, the main purpose of this guild is to trade with other players, but it's not as simple as it seems.

In addition to the buy-and-sell system, you can also develop in the faction, level up, and get even more benefits. To do this, you will need to earn Favor, a currency that is accumulated by killing enemies, participating in events, and many other ways. Spending Favor to buy items will increase your level in the faction. If you reach the highest level, level 10, you will be able to buy and sell even legendary items.

Circles of Fortune

Circles of Fortune is best suited for beginners or true ARPG fans who just want to enjoy the game and keep doing the usual things. Unlike the previous faction, the emphasis here is on independent searching and farming of items, and the chance of a drop is significantly increased. You can go on adventures alone, with friends, or with other faction members to achieve the desired result.

Further development after joining this faction is smooth and natural, as in similar games of this genre like Diablo. As in the previous case, you will need to accumulate Favor, but for astrological research instead of trade. Instead of the Bazaar, you will unlock the Observatory, where you can create desired items yourself by purchasing and using Prophecy and Lenses. Unlike trading, this is a much more interesting and faster way to get items.

Among both factions, it is better to choose Circles of Fortune, especially if you are a beginner. This way, you will not change the usual gameplay and can naturally continue to develop and reach heights.
