12 Tetsuya Kuroko

Kuroko is the sixth member of the Generation of Miracles and the main protagonist of the series. He also plays for Seirin’s basketball team as a small forward. Kuroko is often regarded as the “phantom” due to his small physique and his lack of presence, which leads many to think that he is almost invisible. However, he uses this invisibility, coupled with misdirection, to outwit his opponents on the court.

Despite being able to use these skills to become an excellent playmaker, Kuroko is a terrible shooter since he managed to perfect just his passing skills in middle school. Kuroko has a straightforward and reserved personality, which makes much of his delivery seem devoid of emotion. However, there are times when Kuroko shows his emotions, like when he was upset by Kirisaki Daichi’s underhanded style of play. He is also selfless, which is evidenced by his willingness to play a supporting role, and his readiness to be the shadow to Kagami’s light. Kuroko is rarely seen displaying any emotion.

11 Taiga Kagami

 kagami taiga in the zone

Kagami is a freshman at Seirin and plays as a power forward. He also joined the Serin basketball team at the same time Kuroko did. He is a very gifted and skillful player, arguably on par with the Generation of Miracles. Kagami can be described as arrogant and cocky. Viewers can see this in his disappointment in the level of competition in Japan’s basketball scene after he moved from the United States.

His perception changed once he was made aware of the existence of the Generation of Miracles, and from then on, he worked tirelessly to compete with them. Despite being a great player overall, Kagami’s most outstanding trait is his unreal jumping power, and when coupled with Kuroko’s use of misdirection, he becomes a very formidable player, one formidable enough to challenge the Generation of Miracles.

10 Ryōta Kise

Kise is a freshman at Kaijō High School and plays as a small forward for the school’s basketball team. He is also a member of the Generation of Miracles. Kise can copy and master complex moves after just watching them once. However, it should be noted that this ability is limited to what he can physically do. His copying ability made any sport he tried boring since he was able to master and be the best at them quickly. This later changes after he witnesses Aomine play, and he is inspired to play basketball as a result.

Kise is very confident in himself, except when he has to deal with members of the Generation of Miracles since he sees himself as the weakest member. He is also an attractive young man and even models outside of school. Due to his attractiveness, he has a large female following.

9 Shinatarō Midorima

Midorima plays as a shooting guard for Shūtoku High’s basketball team. He is also a member of the Generation of Miracles and was widely regarded as its best shooter. Midorima is blessed with precise shooting ability and is said to have never missed a shot, even though some of his shots span the full length of the court. His standout skill is his ability to shoot threes from any side of the basketball court.

Midorima is a very hard worker, a trait not so common amongst the Generation of Miracles. He is also uptight, reserved, and not the type to have casual fun. Midorima is often seen staying late to practice his threes and is driven by his motto to do “everything humanely possible”. He is also arrogant and has extreme confidence in his abilities. This initially caused him to look down on his new teammates at Shūtoku. Incredibly superstitious, Midorima is a devout adherent of the Oha-Asa Daily Horoscope. His zodiac sign is Cancer, and he always carries a lucky charm that corresponds to the day. He thinks that the horoscope forecasts directly affect his performance.

8 Daiki Aomine

Aomine is the former ace of the Generation of Miracles. He plays as a power forward for Tōō academy’s basketball team. Aomine is one of the more talented and overpowered players in Kuroko’s Basketball. He is renowned for his incorporation of street basketball into his game and his ability to shoot from impossible situations, like how he managed to shoot when his body was parallel to the ground.

Aomine is the polar opposite of Midorima, as he does not see the need to practice, usually seen napping when it is time for practice. At Teiko, Aomine and Kuroko were a solid partnership, with Aomine being Kuroko’s light at the time. However, due to a lack of worthwhile competition, Aomine decided he no longer needed Kuroko, or anyone for that matter, and adopted a solo playstyle. Despite his motto being “the only one who can beat me is me," Aomine yearns for a worthy opponent who can make basketball fun for him again. He is one of the more interesting characters in Kuroko’s Basketball and fans would enjoy his cocky display.

7 Atsushi Murasakibara

Standing at a height of 208cm (6’10”), Murasakibara plays as a center for Yōsen High School. He was formerly the center of the Generation of Miracles at Teiko. Due to his height, he has an immense physical presence, oftentimes using it to intimidate his opponents and create a nigh impenetrable defense.

Additionally, Murasakibara can cover the court quickly thanks to his long stride. Murasakibara is lethargic and is not passionate about anything aside from munching snacks. Although, this is not always the case as he can become very competitive when he is losing.

6 Seijūrō Akashi

Introduced in the second season of Kuroko’s Basketball, Akashi is the captain and point guard of the national champions, Rakuzan High. He was also the former captain of the Generation of Miracles. As the successor to one of Japan’s most prestigious families, Akashi was raised to excel at whatever he does.

He is often polite and kind and can be seen lending a helping hand. For example, he taught Kuroko how to use his misdirection to optimize his passing. However, Akashi adopts a colder and more intimidating personality with a sole focus on winning when faced with stiff competition. Akashi’s standout ability is his Emperor Eye, which he uses to predict his opponent’s moves. This ability makes him adept at stealing the ball and causing “ankle-breakers”. He is very intelligent and has an analytical brain, playing Shogi in his free time.

5 Junpei Hyūga

hyuga junpei

He is the captain of Seirin’s basketball team. He is a clutch shooter, his primary role being to score the team as many points as possible. He is a very good shooter, and his shooting ability goes up a notch when it is time to come up clutch, hence, clutch shooter. Along with this change in ability comes a change in Hyūga’s personality. He is typically calm, collected, and values respect, but when his team is in trouble, he becomes very aggressive and rude.

Before Kagami and Kuroko joined the team, Hyūga was very key to how Seirin played. Thanks to his shooting ability, he can consistently make three-point shots during a game. Hyūga is an ever-present figure in the team, rarely missing games due to being the captain and the best shooter on the team.

4 Shun Izuki

Seirin's basketball team has Izuki as vice-captain and playing as a point guard. He is the team’s calm head and thinker. Izuki has a special ability known as the "Eagle Eye" that allows him to see the court from different angles. Eagle Eye allows him to see the court from above like a bird, hence the name. Izuki uses this ability to make accurate passes. He also uses it to steal the ball from an opponent’s blindspot through a skill he developed from Eagle Eye known as Eagle Spear. Eagle Eye also gives him the ability to predict the moves of opponents, although not to the level of Akashi’s Emperor Eye.

Izuki’s ability is limited too, as it has its blind spots. Nevertheless, he has used it to achieve some great feats, like how he was able to pass through the Eagle Wall of Yōsen High.

3 Shinji Koganei

Koganei embodies the figure of speech “Jack of all trades, master of none”. He mostly comes off the bench as he is Seirin’s sixth man. Just like Midorima, he can shoot from anywhere on the court, but with hardly the same accuracy.

Koganei is the most vibrant personality among the players on his team. He is good at academics, consistently ranking in the 80th percentile of his class, but is not an expert in any particular subject. Koganei is sometimes compared to a feral cat because of his unpredictable reflexes.

2 Teppei Kiyoshi

 kiyoshi teppei smiling

Teppei is a student in his second year at Seirin High and a co-founder of the school’s basketball team. He was introduced in the latter parts of the first season of Kuroko’s Basketball. He was hospitalized for a knee ailment and missed the entire Interhigh competition. Although he rejoined the squad for the Winter Cup, he had not fully recovered from his knee injury, and that would be his final season for Seirin.

Despite mostly playing as a center, his playmaking ability occasionally allows him to transition to a point guard. From his middle school days, Teppei has been referred to as one of the "Five Uncrowned Kings," a group of athletes who were overlooked for the Generation of Miracles. Kiyoshi is known for his fortitude and ferocity, earning him the moniker "Iron Heart."

1 Riko Aida

riko aida

Riko is a second-year student at Seirin High and the coach of the school's basketball team. Although she is a student, she is very domineering when coaching. She has spent a lot of her time observing athletes’ physiques and their associated data. This observation, coupled with the experience gained from her father, a sports trainer, enables her to assess a player's physical attributes at a glance.

Riko is committed to the squad and creates innovative training regimens utilizing the facilities her father owns. Her cooking almost always gives everyone food poisoning because she is a terrible cook.
