Xbox's premiere subscription service Xbox Game Pass receives a near-constant trickle of announcements of new games being added to the platform. Xbox Game Pass has proven to not be afraid to get some big-name titles on the service right on launch day, with the service now getting EA's newest IP, Knockout City, the day it launches.

Knockout City is a multiplayer dodgeball game that sees players using customized characters to run, jump and flip through a futuristic City in chaotic competitive dodgeball matches. The game was originally revealed at a PlayStation State of Play event, but now, EA is working with Xbox to bring it to Xbox Game Pass when it launches.

The announcement came via the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter, where it was not only announced that Knockout City would be releasing on May 21, but that it would be part of the service on the same day. It comes as part of EA Play's inclusion with Xbox Game Pass that started in March. EA Play is EA's own subscription service similar to Xbox Game Pass that gives subscribers access to dozens of EA titles as well as early trials of upcoming EA titles. EA Play's inclusion in Xbox Game Pass was a big addition to the service and seems to only be getting better.

With Knockout City's inclusion in the service on the day it launches, it also leaves the door open for other future EA titles to launch in a similar fashion. It would be incredible to see EA's massive titles like the upcoming Mass Effect: Legendary Edition or even Battlefield 6 launch on the service. Xbox Game Pass recently even managed to get the first-party PlayStation game MLB The Show 21 on the service the day it launched, so anything seems possible for Xbox Game Pass. Knockout City is also launching with crossplay between all of its platforms, so players with Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox will be able to play together, as well as with the rest of the game's community.

Xbox Game Pass seems like a great place for a game like Knockout City. New multiplayer titles require a healthy player base at launch to sustain it for interested players and keep queue times low. Knockout City already announced that it would launch with a free-to-play weekend for any players curious to try it, and with recent reports of Xbox Game Pass helping games like Dirt 5 sustain player numbers beyond the developers' expectations, the service could likely do the same for Knockout City.

Knockout City launches May 21 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
