Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a fairly faithful recreation of the original Wii version. However, when Nintendo decided to remake this title from the ground up for the Switch, it also decided to add a few new features and make some nice quality changes. But while the graphics look a whole lot better, and there are some new animations, it isn't all just visual. There are also some new things in Return to Dream Land that fans of the 2011 version will have never seen before, including a whole new Kirby's Dream Land Epilogue with four new levels, new abilities, and more.

The first thing that returning Dream Land players will notice is, of course, the graphics. Nintendo remade the whole game with updated graphics to go along with the better hardware available to the Switch compared to the Wii. The story is exactly the same, and the levels will also play the same way as the original, but the sprites will be more defined and given more detail and contrast. Additional changes have been made to:

  • Control tweaks.
  • Some animations have been altered to make gameplay faster and smoother.
  • The characters have also been revamped to match their new look if their models have changed over time, like King Dedede.
  • Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe added new languages as well, making it available in Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Additions Made to Kirby's Return to Dream Land

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe adds several revamped and new sub-games, all housed in the new Merry Magolor theme park. This new location is a fun, carnival-style location with a selection of all the mini-games, a place to look through and try on masks, and more.

Players unlock this merry location just by playing through a few of the levels; they can also unlock more masks by collecting Stamp Tickets, which are scattered throughout the levels.

Along with the new mini-game location, there are also all-new challenge modes on the Lor Starcutter and even three new copy abilities for Kirby. These are:

The biggest addition to Kirby's Return to Dream Land is definitely the new epilogue. The Magolor's Epilogue unlocks when the base game has been completed, and it adds four brand-new levels and a boss stage as well. Just like the rest of the game on both Switch and Wii, this epilogue can be played through either co-op or single-player. This means that Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe takes more time to beat than Kirby's Return to Dream Land for the Wii.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is available for Nintendo Switch.
